Vanessa is a 28-year old freelance writer and blogging consultant living in New York City. She has worked with the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Girls for Gender Equity, NARAL Pro-Choice New York and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. Vanessa is a graduate of the BA program in Women's and Gender Studies at Rutgers University and is a co-founder of The Real Hot 100, a grassroots media project that challenges unrealistic images of women in the media. She is also an editor of The Daou Report and blogs about international women’s issues at UN Dispatch.

- But back on topic: "women smokers lose 14.5 years off their life span." On average. Your mileage may vary. You could live to 123 and die in your sleep (my 90 year old grandfather died as a result of straining (posted to Note to women smokers: Quit smoking.)
- I have to say, although I am clearly very much against smoking, I think the poster Hara above is taking some of this a little too far. Not all smokers are the same, and some of them ARE considerate. However, (posted to Note to women smokers: Quit smoking.)

- My best tip for quitting is to use Zyban or Chantix. That way, you don't crave, and I find the Zyban provides energy and keeps your mood stable while quitting. I am quitting right now using Zyban. (posted to Note to women smokers: Quit smoking.)
