Good for you for trying to make your classroom a safe environment! You can be sure that some of the people not speaking up are doing so because they have been shamed into silence, and they probably appreciate your standing (posted to sexual harassment backlash--same old story)
It can be really tough to speak up about sexist remarks—especially without the support of others. You might consider working with like-minded colleagues at your university to help establish policies and procedures for eliminating sexist remarks from the classroom and (posted to sexual harassment backlash--same old story)
