Miriam is a 24-year-old North Carolina native whose upbringing in a Cuban immigrant household was pretty far from Southern, although she does enjoy BBQ and the occasional Carolina basketball game. She graduated from Swarthmore College with a BA in Anthropology in 2006, immediately moved to Brooklyn NY and has since left the Big Apple for a slightly smaller fruit, Washington DC.
Miriam is the Senior Advocacy Associate at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health. You might also know her as Radical Doula , where she blogs and bitches about the state of birthing rights in the US. Her writing has also appeared at RH Reality Check, Bitch Magazine, The Nation, and Campus Progress. When Miriam is isn't on the Internet, she's playing Ultimate Frisbee, knitting or watching bad gay TV.
