• I agree. I sounds strange when written out to ask before initiating physical contact, but in reality a lot of guys I know have done this and it actually makes them look confident and respectful at the same time. (posted to Should I Feel Violated?)
• You can't even rely on enthusiastic approval, absent at least some additional context. I have female friends that I hug enthusiastically, but I would get rather weirded out if any of them took that as license to test the waters (posted to Should I Feel Violated?)
