I think there's a lot to this, actually -- I don't think it really manifests as a direct, conscious "I am better than that person" process most of the time (although I guess sometimes it does, ugh), but it's sort (posted to Owning My Thin Privilege)
Haha, yeah, it sounds pretty ridiculous to me too. That said, in a more general sense I think maybe it would be nice if STIs were viewed a little more mundanely, as health problems that just sort of happen and (posted to STIs are so manly. )
I really hate to say this, because it's, well, terrible, but I think it's nonetheless something to keep in mind when considering the various reasons someone should get Gardasil: I think it's a little naive to think that one is (posted to Young woman rejects HPV vaccine and loses path to citizenship)

And, for what it's worth, on a purely superficial level, I think I'd take the bifocals over the biceps, if (artificially) forced to choose. It seems like this "problem" should go both ways, although I'm blanking on what the equivalent (posted to Holy Gross of the Day )
It is very hard to love in this type of depression. Most people still work through the hard times, but for some it might be a little more difficult. But as far as walkawaytoday.org goes, they are great with helping (posted to Keith Olberman special comment on Prop 8)
