It's been a couple of weeks since we've put out a video, sorry about that! This week's 'fuck you' was inspired by Ann's post about the latest anti-choice pharmacy and Pharmacists for Life International (who incidentally has called us "radical feminazis" and "radical abortoholics" on their website). Enjoy!

So to really get our minds off the election I thought I would switch it up and do a Feminist Fuck Yeah to Henry Rollins. Why Henry Rollins? Well because he is awesome (this is more awesome), but we also got several emails from readers who have seen his spoken word performances (which are amazing) and apparently he is a fan of Feministing. If that is not FUCK YEAH worthy, I am not really sure what is.
And I have been known to bite his style from time to time. (And full transcript after the jump.)
You knew this one was coming.

This week, Miriam and I teamed up again to say "fuck no!" to the claim that Sarah Palin is a feminist candidate.

We were thrilled when Ann thought up of the brilliant idea to switch up our Friday Feminist Fuck Yous once in a while to a Friday Feminist Fuck Yeah; after all, it is Friday and it's nice to start off the weekend with some happy feelings.
So considering the good news us New Yorkers have had this week about the MTA putting up anti-harassment ads up in the subways, this is our first Friday Feminist Fuck Yeah to Holla Back NYC, Girls for Gender Equity, Right Rides and all of the other advocacy groups and organizations that are fighting subway (and street) harassment.

Inspired by a ten page article about Rush in NYTimes Magazine, I figured this was FU worthy. Rush has been spewing crap since I was a wee one and his frequently unfounded and baseless arguments are clearly constructed to be controversial, but actually affects public opinion. This is scary.
(I know I need to get a real camera.)
Thanks to George for the link.
... for thinking women only vote for democrats because we're "emotional" and that women under 50 don't care about abortion.

UPDATE: Seems YouTube sexists don't like my video much. I've banned/erased over 50 "show me your tits" and "i'm going to rape you" comments. Fun!

...for awarding a female soldier a Silver Star for heroic acts, and then removing her from combat because she's a woman.
And just a note, something I didn't mention in the video, I think it's possible to oppose both the Iraq war and the Army's ban on women in combat. Yes, I believe women like Pfc. Monica Brown should be allowed to serve alongside men in combat situations. No, I don't support the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Samhita said it really well two years ago:
I don't know how to write about this issue without first saying that I hate the military, I don't support the war in Iraq at all, and the US government allowing women and people of color to advance in the military is strategic(ally fucked) and not in *any* way indicative of an actual commitment on behalf of our leading patriarchs to advance the peoples. But these women claim to still be facing obstacles as they are clearly performing well (in gunning down Iraqis) but still not advancing in their positions.See the military isn't any good for anything.
Along those lines, when we talk about issues of women in the U.S. military, it's important to keep in mind that they aren't the only women in combat zones --and to talk about the effects of war on female civilians.

I'm thrilled that Obama's recent speech created a more complex framing for all of this, so I guess I can fuck you/thank stupid media for prompting that reaction.

I know you all just can't get enough of my vlogging, so I went ahead and took a stab at the Friday Feministing Fuck You. I apologize, I am a little sick and stuffy, but you get the point. To get some background check out Jess's post on Dr. Laura's appearance on the Today show.
God, will I just shut up already. . .

Props to Vanessa for this week's "fuck you."
Hey there, we're back with our potty-mouthed vlogging for another installment of the Friday Feminist Fuck You. I recorded this week's edition, and since I lack video editing software, it's grainy and missing the fancy titles and logos that Jessica's version was sporting last week. But anyway, check it out:

So this is our new weekly vlog series, Friday Feminist Fuck You. (Gawd I love alliteration.) Every Friday, we'll take a look back on a story we've linked to or commented on that week and expand on why they, well...suck. Hope you enjoy it!
