Going Rouge!

If you're sick of hearing about Sarah Palin's new biography, Going Rogue: An American Life, consider checking out the anthology, Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, An American Nightmare.

Edited by Richard Kim and Betsy Reed of The Nation, Going Rouge is like the liberal intervention to Palin's oh-so-tiresome narrative.

The book has contributions from Max Blumenthal, Juan Cole, Eve Ensler, Michelle Goldberg, Jane Hamsher, Christopher Hayes, Naomi Klein, Dahlia Lithwick, Amanda Marcotte, Rick Perlstein, Katha Pollitt, Frank Rich, Hanna Rosin, Rebecca Traister, Katrina vanden Heuvel, Patricia Williams, and even one from me!

If you're interested, check out this episode of GRITtv after the jump where Laura Flanders chats with Rebecca Traister, Richard Kim, Max Blumenthal and Shannyn Moore about Palin and the book.

I still think "Me Talk Pretty One Day" makes a better title for any book about Sarah Palin, but I'll take "Going Rouge." ;-)

Also, I didn't recognize too many articles in the table of contents, but the Michelle Goldberg article "Flirting Her Way to Victory" is the TRUTH.

LOL!!!Great laugh in a loooong time!

Maybe also "Running With Scissors?"

No a really good title would be "I so Hot, everybody doesn't know that I'm plotting to destroy the world"

Hah oh this is cruel of me but I just imagined a scenario where a fan of palin's looking for her autobiography picks up this one instead- confusion ensues, along with an angry return visit to the bookshop because they've been "duped". Its the small things..

"An American Nightmare" certainly looks very interesting- I love an intelligent essay.

Gotta watch out for that "gotcha" book selling.

The spelling of "rouge" is intentional? I don't really get it. A reference to blushing?

A reference to her red attire on the cover, I assumed?

[0+] Author Profile Page Ayame replied to allegra :

Or a reference to red as in "red states"...

In other news, Carrie Prejean follows Palin's footsteps and will release "Going Solo" very soon.

I think the title is dumb. American Nightmare? Really?
An otherwise obscure small state former governor with no real power? How about the Iraq war? That is an American nightmare. Costs billions of dollars and thousands of lives. Sarah Palin is entirely media made. If the press ignored her, we would already have forgotten her. However we would not forget the Iraq war because it costs so damned much money and lives. She is a distraction from stuff that is really important and the constant media attention (including books about her with copy cat titles) only serve to increase her platform and popularity with those who agree with her.

Instead of "Going Rogue", this book's title is "Going Rouge". Instead of "An American Life", this book's subtitle says, "An American Nightmare". It's just making fun of her book. The Iraq War is worse than she is and is a nightmare, you're right about that.
