Excedrin for Your Racial Tension Headache.

A little old, a lot of awesome.

You know, we love the Queen here at Feministing, despite her complexities.

Here's a transcript. It would be nice if the feministing editors remembered to include them though.

Queen Latifah:

Do I have stress headaches at work? Yes, definitely. From the moment I get in, it's "Denise, we need this", "Denise, we need that", which is stressful, cause my name is Linda. Denise is the other black woman that works here. By 10 AM, someone in the copy room makes a joke about Kobe Bryant and everyone looks at me to make sure it's okay. And I'll smile like it's okay, but really, my head and neck are starting to throb. Then I spend the rest of the afternoon training my interns and answering their questions like "yes, black people use shampoo" and "no, I don't know any good reggae clubs around here" and "yes, Condoleezza Rice is very articulate; why do you sound so surprised?" and "no, I can't tell you where to buy weed!". And that's when I reach for Excedrin. New Excedrin for Racial Tension Headaches; it [unclear] works fast, taking you from "Oh no you didn't" to "I wish you motherf***ing would".

Announcer: Excedrin, for Racial Tension Headaches. Fast relief for hundreds of years of nagging pain.

Should be "Excedrin RT works fast."

I think the day before I quit I told people not to give me a racism headache and not to give me a sexism headache. If only they made some sort of "Excedrin Double Strength: For racial tension and feminist pains" I might still have a job.

Hilarious! I can't believe I've never seen this before! I haven't had *too* many problems like this in the office, but my college was predominantly white, and I got called "Chavonne" all the time. Chavonne was the other black girl. Jeez, people. It happened in high school, too. I had one teacher who not only called me the wrong name, but mispronounced the name she called me. All. Year. Long.

I'm with Stephanie. They really need a racial tension/feminist pain Excedrin, but I'd probably die from accidental overdose.

This is one of my favorite fake commercials. I wish this product existed to relieve the pain that follows headdesking after being exposed to racism for long periods of time.
