Hillary says she won't run for president again

Yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that she would not run for president again.

"This is a great job," Clinton said in the [NBC] interview broadcast Monday. "It is a 24-7 job. And I am looking forward to retirement at some point."

...Clinton also denied that her voice is not being heard in the administration, and said it is not her style to try and be the center of attention.

"I find it absurd," she said. "I find it beyond any realistic assessment of what I am doing everyday."

Clinton went on to say that she believes in "delegating power."

"It is just the way I am. My goal is to be a very positive force to implement the kind of changes that the president and I believe are in the best interests of our country. But that doesn't mean it all has to be me, me, me all the time. I like lifting people up."

I love and admire Hillary Clinton and support any choice she makes.

Here here! She's one of my role models right there next to Eleanor Roosevelt. Love ya Hillary!

Agreed agreed agreed! I just love hearing other people say it, as well. I heart Hillary.

This sucks! I wanted Hillary after Obama's two terms (cossing fingers for two)! Pelosi, Michelle O? What other chance do I have of having a female president in my lifetime? Regardless of her gender though, I liked her politics.

Do you believe her? Certainly, this is the right thing to say right now, but she's in the headlines plenty. Let's see if she's still interested in retiring in 2016, especially if the Obama administration has managed to make some foreign policy accomplishments during that time.

I think this statement is more aimed at 2012 than 2016, a preemptive disarmament of the chattering press who would love the potential drama of Hillary Clinton challenging Barack Obama in the primary.

Of course it was an absolutely ludicrous notion to begin with, but that's never stopped the political press before. Might as well nip all the stupid rumormongering in the bud before it starts.

Chelsea Clinton 2016. Are you with me? www.helloladies.com

I love Chelsea! But is she interested in politics?

I have no idea. But she was so impressive during the election.

After the obscenely long campaign for the primaries last season, I can't blame her. That had to have been grueling.

With the Clintons all bets are off. Ambition trumps everything, even retirement I'd wager. Wait till 2016 & I think it'll be a Biden-Clinton grudge fest. We'll see.

I heard that on the radio the other day and felt a little sad. I'm hoping Clinton said "no" simply because, well, what else was she going to say when asked that directly?

I would really, really like to see her president sometime soon. And although I stand by Obama, I must admit I wish she were president now.

(During the primaries my major concern about Clinton, whom I supported, was that she'd stock her Cabinet with leftovers from her husband's administration and Wall Street bigwigs. But of course Obama has done just that anyway.)

The other day I was watching the news and Hilary was being interviewed. Totally unrelated to the interview, the tagline at the bottom of the screen said "Is Hilary being slighted/disregarded?" or something. Seemed totally uncalled for and seemed like a question that would only be asked of her since she has such a bad rap in the media and has a vagina. Good for her for saying it like it is.

Well, it was good while it lasted...

Good. She was a terrible candidate and we've had more than enough dynasties.

[0+] Author Profile Page allegra replied to aleks :

Uh, yeah. She wasn't a "terrible" candidate. And even the fresh blood like Obama still manages to keep government about 75% dynasty.

[0+] Author Profile Page aleks replied to allegra :

I guess if you're forgetting your vow to stop replying to me I can forget Hillary's disciplined campaign, her ability to hire and manage talented lieutenants, her excellent money management and strategic sense, and her amazing come-from-behind underdog victory against the establishment candidate. Really, given all her disadvantages in opposing the presumptive front-runner I'm still amazed that she won. A true David and Goliath story.

Uh, yeah.

Also, when I said "more than enough," I meant that to mean too much, which is what it means.

[0+] Author Profile Page i_muse replied to aleks :

Wow. Are you aware that you're coming off sounding like an asshole?
I'm sure you present yourself more decently in person. Are you one of those gnats that comes online to be the arrogant, patronizing voice on every thread you can?

I like her more after the campaign than I ever did during it.

[0+] Author Profile Page aleks replied to Comrade Kevin :

Yes, definitely.

Hopefully one day Michelle Obama will run for president! I'm getting a bit sick of the constant white, hetero, sausage fest.

[0+] Author Profile Page a.k.a. Ninapendamaishi replied to Gopher :

I do not understand the people who keep saying this. Yes, she's a smart, sensible woman.

But she also does not have a ton of interest or experience in politics, which she's made clear over and over again herself, deliberately. She was a /business lawyer/. Seriously. That's her qualification. What gives?

But did Hillary? She ran for senator after her husband was president. I'm sure Michelle O would make a good politician. She's top in alot of other areas too, so why not this one?

Right. Michelle's never piggy-backed her career on Barack's and she's given no sign she wants to start.

[0+] Author Profile Page Gopher replied to aleks :

"Michelle's never piggy-backed her career "

I dont think Hillary ever piggy-backed her career. Its quite a misogynistic take on her political career. Maybe you also think she wouldnt have gotten anywhere without Bill too?

[0+] Author Profile Page aleks replied to Gopher :

"anywhere" is a pointlessly broad range of places. Of course she would have gotten somewhere. Hillary is an extremely intelligent and ambitious person. In-the-Senate-and-an-inch-from-the-presidency is a very specific somewhere, and one that she got to with Bill's influence and popularity. He cleared actual NY Democrats out of her way so she'd become Senator, and his popularity in the Democratic Party made her the presumptive nominee years before the election.

Do you think Bobby and Ted Kennedy got where they were without JFK and Joseph's influence? W Bush? Beau Biden? Hillary played the game the same way the Old Boys do.
