Even though I was a child at the time, I remember that tragic day well. It made me sick to my stomach when I heard the news. But I do agree that focusing on her legacy is probably a better option than forming the whole of our remembrances around the end of her life.
I was in third grade. I remember watching it on TV, I will never forget this day.
The 1986 Challenger explosion was CRAZY. I remember it, too like everyone else. But as one pilot once said, sometimes accidents happen in order to create more precautions for people's safety.
RIP
As a New Hampshire resident, I consider her a hometown hero. I'm so pleased that many NH school children learn about her as part of state history.
