Pretty frickin' awesome. Sadly he didn't address the most serious charge against gay marriage - that gay marriage killed the dinosaurs. - but other than that, pretty hilarious. I hope that one day I fill find a duck to call my own. Quack.

That bit on gay versions of "regular" ads was scary. They've been doing the same with African-American version of "regular" ads on BET for years. On the bright side, at least they are implicitly admitting what we already know: that most TV networks this side of Bravo and BET are for straight white males.

Oops! Was talking about the Safi bit linked in the community thread, not this one... definitely watch both if you haven't already!

Don't thank me. Thank Al Gore.

To the makers of the commercial, if your dad married a man, your mom is the woman who previously gave birth to and/or raised you. And if you for some reason have no one in the traditional mother role, then you don't have one. That's unfortunate but simply true. However, if your dad were allowed to marry a man, you could have two dads, and a larger extended family with whom to have positive experiences.

The gays in nature angle was handled as a joke, but it really needs to be discussed more. It has been argued that the gay penguins in captivity are so because they were in an environment without females (one could compare it to prison where men and women identifying as straight form same sex bonds), but gay animals have been and are documented in nature, at a rate comparable to humans identifying as gay.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animals_displaying_homosexual_behavior

"No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphids. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue."
—Petter Bøckman

the caveat being not all "homosexual behavior" seen in animals is sexual in nature or as part of a relations in a bonded couple, and not applicable to human behaviors in a relationship.

The ironic thing is that a trashy tv show on gay marriage really *would* help to normalise it.
