Senate Judiciary Committee Votes for Sotomayor.

Exciting news. Next to the Senate for confirmation.
The committee voted 13-6 to send its recommendation to the full Senate, which is expected to confirm Sotomayor's appointment next week. With all of the committee's Democrats supporting Sotomayor, Sen. Russell Feingold of Wisconsin called the president's nominee "a thoughtful, careful and intelligent judge" with "a perspective that the court sorely needs. ... Not only will Judge Sotomayor be the first Latina to serve on the court, and the third woman, but also the first with experience as a trial judge."

I can understand the President's point about the possibility of Supreme Court Justices who are not attorneys at some point, but I'd like Supreme Court Justices to understand law, and a demonstrable record of how they apply it.
Yeah, I'm sure all those white guys in the "Supreme" Court never let their individual experience pepper their rulings.
HOORAY!
I'm thinking about making that my Facebook picture until they confirm her.
I hope they do not confirm her. I don't want a judge who makes judgments based on empathy. If every judgment is based off empathy then every trial will be biased.
From Sotomayor's comments she's proved herself to be a bad person for the job. She plays a leadership role at PRLDEF, which works with the criminal organization known as ACORN. And President Obama was Chief National Trainer for ACORN...and with him hand-picking her, it gives me an even colder reaction towards her.
Plus, I've already caught her in lies and she seems very bitter towards white men--I don't like that.
I know she'll most likely be voted in...considering the Democrats dominate---but I really hope she is NOT going to get the job.
We need someone else.
And no, I'm not a republican, just to let everyone know. I'm a Libertarian.
Sonia Sotomayor is already causing a stir. President Obama has nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, to replace retiring Associate Justice David Souter. She is purported to hold liberal judicial views (she and Justice Scalia are going to get along real well), and it's likely that the GOP is going to look into quick cash loans to put the kibosh on her nomination, and her record of decisions has been interesting, to say the least. Sonia Sotomayor has had conflicting and interesting decisions regarding subjects like racial discrimination, environmental protection, Second Amendment rights, people with disabilities, and the Supreme Court litmus test, abortion. She won't need secured loans, but it will be tough times ahead for Sonia Sotomayor
