It was JFK that got us in there, his little brother Bobby who kept us there, and his paranoid schizophrenic successor who screwed the pooch and refused to listen to anyone other than those little voices in his head.

actually, Eisenhower was really the one who started our involvement in Vietnam, and many of the problems there were really the result of French colonialism, and if France hadn't insisted on getting it's colony back after WWII, it could have turned out a whole lot differently.
These are true, but do not conflict with the statements made or mitigate McNamara, JFK, Johnson, or for that matter Nixon's guilt.
