Frameline, an LGBT film festival in San Francisco, was generous enough to offer a giveaway to Feministing readers.
About Frameline:
Frameline is the world's oldest and largest LGBT media organization. In addition to producing the annual San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival -- which opens this Thursday, June 18th -- Frameline is also the leading educational distributor solely dedicated to LGBT film and video. Among its newest programs are Youth In Motion, which provides free LGBT films and curriculum resources to California middle and high schools, and a new line of Home Videos, including previously unreleased classics like Tongues Untied and Screaming Queens.
We're giving away four prizes in honor of the festival today at Feministing.

So if you are local, and want to enter to win one of those ticket packages, leave a comment listing your favorite LGBT film. I'll select three people from comments at random.
Anyone can enter to win the two DVDs, and we'll mail them to you. So, if you want to enter to win the DVDs, leave a comment with your favorite LGBT celebrity.
It's a short contest folks, winners will be posted at 3pm EST today and then will need to email me with some info to redeem their prizes. So comment away!
Thanks to Frameline and Harris for setting this up!

Ellen DeGeneres. Hands down.
Amy Ray.
Jane Lynch! the funnies homo ever.
Oscar Wilde.
My girlfriend and I plan on naming one of our sons Oscar- though both of our mothers are pushing for it to be a middle name...
Ani DiFranco
Virginia Woolf - if I had to choose.
I will say Ellen DeGeneres as well.
Just a reminder everyone--if you're in the San Francisco area, make sure to answer the favorite LGBT film question (or at least indicate that you're in SF).
We've got three ticket packages to give away to people in the Bay Area!
Sadly, not in the Bay Area. Happily, Ellen DeGeneres is syndicated!
Leisha Hailey!
ohmigawd, i'm totally torn between julie goldman and suzanne westehoefer.
Peter Paige.
Kate Bornstein! (certainly a celebrity to me!)
Margaret Cho! She breaks down just about every stereotype and she is hilarious.
-She is a champion of the movement to love your body no matter what, and speaks out about unfair beauty standards for women in the entertainment biz. Check out the "beauty pageant" episode in the first season of the Cho Show.
-She also speaks out about the "submissive Asian girl" stereotype and I probably don't need to clarify how she does it.
-Her comedy involves all kinds of humour that is typically associated with "guy" humour and she does so unapologetically. She gets laughs from jokes about farts and peeing.
-She is self-identified as "queer" rather than feeling the need to fit herself nicely into a box such as gay, straight, or bi.
-She bashes social norms and conservatism. She is unafraid to be who she is.
She is badass and I love her.
I'm gonna go with Amanda Palmer!
My current favorite LGBTQ celebrity is Rachel Maddow. She counts as a celebrity, right? I drool over her smart, smart commentary...
Of LGBTQ historical figures, I think I have to go with Audre Lorde.
I love Neil Patrick Harris. But its horrible that its because of how much I love his character on How I Met Your Mother. He is such a misogynist on the show,(and the strict feminist in me is so angry I am posting this). But he is absolutely hillarious I cant help but love him! Its very ironic too, that Barney is such a ladies man. Plus, the fact that Old Spice has taken him on as a spokes person is indicative, I think, that under SOME circumstances hegemonic masculinity can be challenged in the mainstream media. Watch him and it will be Legend...wait for it...Dary!
That's so cool that they're releasing Tongues Untied - I had the hardest time finding it! I guess my favorite celebrity would be Portia de Rossi - I love all of the shows she's in.
Ok, this is a bit dated, but I gotta say:
Ma Rainey!!!
For being an out and proud lesbian blues mama.
I live 2 hours from the nearest movie theater. Miriam, please help this mountain-town queer get her gay film fix!
Favorite LGBT film: Go Fish
I want a copy of "Screaming Queens" so badly...
My favorite LGBT famous-person is definitely Ru Paul. Remember when he did "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" with Elton John?
My favorite famous LGBT person would have to be... Sheryl Swoopes.
My LGBT celebrity crush is Rachel Maddow. She's clever, witty, and gorgeous.
I'm in SF!
Definitely Short Bus....
Not in San Fran (but I love "Boys Don't Cry" and "The Birdcage"!! -- just putting that out there.)
And my favorite LGBT celeb? Dude, I can't pick just one.
Amanda Palmer
Margaret Cho
Rachel Maddow
Portia De Rossi (Arrested Development!!!! Love it!!!)
Tegan & Sara
Christian Siriano
Nathan Lane
And so many others that it's ridiculous.
Rachel Maddow! and if the rumors were true CAREY GRANT-- BIG TIME!!
rachel maddow, carey grant (?)
I'll be in SF starting Monday!! I'm gonna have to go with Rocky Horror. :) I just love Tim Curry for doing that.
As for favorite celeb - tough to decide, but I love Ellen. And Portia (Arrested Development FTW)!
Oh, and I'm seconding the person who said Oscar Wilde. LOVE HIM.
Shortbus all the way. That movie is so beautiful.
Wasn't the assignment to list a film, rather than a film star?
I'm voting for If These Walls Could Talk 2.
:)
Badass musician Carrie Brownstein!
Ellen DeGeneres is hands down my favorite.
Um, I'm not really into the celeb scene, and I've only gotten involved in the LGBT movement in the last few months (its been one of those "life changing journeys" recently). So I'll do my fav. LBGT character.
Ron from the Japanese anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is fantastic because in a show where "maleness" and violence are touted as superior, he's openly and happily gay. In fact, gay characters in Japan aren't usually portrayed as either, but Ron is Ron, and he's always happy to help his friends while hitting on a cute guy. His gayness isn't who he is though; he's main cast and a good technician.
I've got to say, Wanda Sykes is pretty fabulous.
My fave LGBT celeb:
Ani DiFranco. Not only did she introduce me to feminism and all sorts of other civil rights issues, she rocks WAY hard.
Ellen Degeneres!! But I also love Nathan Lane :)
I see a few people have beat me to it, but my favorite film has to be Shortbus, hands down.
20 Centimeters ~
A wonderful film about a narcoleptic trans woman with the most fabulous dreams.
(am in the bay area :-)
My favorite LGBTQ films are Hedwig & the Angry Inch, and also the British film Breakfast on Pluto...
also - in the Bay Area! :)
I'd have to say Ellen, as well (in terms of celebrities).
BUT I also put my vote in for Riki Wilchins, cuz she fuckin' rocks!
