But as for now, I'll go donate some more. Here's to hoping a pro-choice organization will step up and buy that clinic - if not for late-term abortions, then to make it into a Planned Parenthood or some other type of pro-choice clinic.

Is there anything we can do to mobilize against this? There may be legal channels, there may not be... but there have to be other (nonviolent, obviously -- I'm worried about the way this will come across) ways we can stop this.

I am actually calling Planned Parenthood Federation of America to see what we can do. I was angry with Tiller's murder, and I was livid with their bullshit comments, but this is pushing me over the top.

One thing those pro-life idiots need to realize is that once they push too much, anyone with any sense in them is going to stand up and push back. I guarantee you this will be the death of the pro-life movement.

NO! This is beyond tasteless! The arrogance of that organization knows no bounds! If Operation Rescue purchases the clinic space, it will add insult to injury to all those grieving for Dr. Tiller -- and Operation Rescue knows this.

I really hate that it seems this heinous act has turned into some kind of victory for them. When people see that they can get a clinic to close if someone can just murder a doctor, it's like affirming their terrorism. (Of course, this can't really be blamed on his family; as we've discussed, I do fully respect their decision to close the place.) Just the way the whole thing is working out is royally pissing me off.

The Tiller family should sue to put Operation Rescue out of business for good. I would never negotiate with terrorists. And we should demand Congress and our courts to stop being sympathetic to the anti-choice terrorist movement also.

I'm 99% sure the tiller family owns the clinic. Dr. Tiller's father was a family practitioner and worked there for years. His father owned the building.

Dr. Tiller (who originally wanted to be a dermotologist) served in the military and afterwards came back to help his father with his family medical pratice.

It was then that he expanded from being a family doc to an OB/GYN. He slowly expanded his OB pratice to all of the abortion services he provided.

There is NO WAY his family will sell to OR. I think this is solely a publicity stunt.

This is so scary for me because I live very close to where all this happened. I live in Kansas City so this is on the local news all the time.

I'm stuck having the internal debate about whether it is worth it to post everything those scum fuckers make a statement. Are we are fanning the flames by acknowledging the drivel OR spews? Or are we ensuring a preemptive level of awareness about the possible fate of the clinic?

Honestly I would rather see the clinic bulldozed to the ground before letting those people hurt women with another crisis pregnancy center.

Does anyone know yet if the terrorist is a member of Operation Rescue, or which groups he identifies with, if at all?

My insides are CHURNING right now! I am torn up inside between crying my freaking eyes out and ripping my bloody desk at work to shreds! I hate them, i hate them, i hate them! They better not even touch that place again. Even if this is just a publicity stunt (I am PRAYING it is, and I'm not even very religious) it is still so disgusting, I wish there was a much more disgusting word than disgusting!

Ok, you guys, settle down. The Tiller family definitely owns the building. I know that through my boss, who is friends with the Tiller family.

Also, don't contact Planned Parenthood to get involved with this clinic, because they are not affiliated with PP. That's a mistake a lot of feminists make. Donating to PPFA will not help independent clinics one bit. Donate to them if you're worried about the independent clinics.

I have worked for PP and independent pro-choice groups, and while I love both, it's important to understand the difference between them.

Would you feel it would be shamefull if a pro life person got shot and his facility turned into an abortion clinic ? I would not.
