Friday Night Feel Good
Ellen's commencement address at Tulane. Totally worth sticking it out until the end!
Thanks for the heads up Jennifer Gandin Le.

LMAO. Love it.
Every time I watch this video Ellen takes over a slightly larger area of my heart.
It's so awesome to see that we've reached a point where Ellen is this open. It wasn't so long ago that she made joking references to sexuality on her show, but it wasn't really permissable to make open references. Now, though, her success is secured and so is her ability to be openly gay, openly in love with another woman, and openly happy about it. Remembering back to her sitcom, it's just remarkable to note the changes we've seen in our lifetime.
It felt even more amazing to be in the audience. She came so close to our row when she danced by, but not close enough to say "hey."
I think I've already seen this on Feministing, but double-posting something as heart warming and funny as this is certainly forgivable. :)
I guess Samhita and I share the same brain. I'm leaving it up cause it's so awesome.
So glad I watched that. I would LOVE to meet her. I mean, come on, she danced at a common-cement ceremony :) And I love her ideas.
yeah, totally already posted.
i wish she would come speak at my graduation next year!!
Just fantastic....I adored it....she was amazing. How inspired those students must have been. I'd have been in tears if that were my graduation! So heart-warming and funny. Amazing woman.
I love it! Ellen is hilariously witty :) I would love for her to come to my future graduation from University.
I've seen this video before, but youtube took it off for some reason. So I'm glad there's still more pieces of it floating about!
yeay for tulane. the guy at my college (several years ago) common-cement was some republican dick govenor who talked about how he reduced the number of people on welfare (and im assuming not because he lowered the number of women, children and families living in poverty.)
stupid double posting!!!!
greeattt. the guy at my college (several years ago) common-cement was some republican dick govenor who talked about how he reduced the number of people on welfare (and im assuming not because he lowered the number of women, children and families living in poverty.)
Well that was just about the greatest thing ever.
Ellen is really great. I love how she gets her message out here and is totally hilarious at the same time.
She is SO much fun. And deep. And inspiring...
I came out the night of Ellen's "coming out show." I was senior in high school and living in Alabama, where in some parts of the state the show was being banned and pulled from viewing. I was terrified and elated, but mostly relieved to be myself ALL the time.
I went onto college and had the time of my life, just as I am, without apology. It would have been full circle to have Ellen speak at my commencement, and I'm so happy that she was invited and heard by Tulane's class of 2009. Ellen, let's dance! The world is wide open.
