Hundreds honor Dr. Tiller in Wichita

Thanks to Jason in Kansas for the link, who says, "There were 600 people who turned out for this rally--which was organized exclusively through facebook & twitter. Wichita and what Dr. Tiller stood for are not going to be deterred."

Abortion is morally complicated.

Terrorism and murder are clearly wrong.

Great clip. I always find it comforting to hear others speak about being pro-choice and pro-woman.

My wife was Dr. Tiller’s patient. I am leaving our painful details out as this isn’t the place or time for it. I just want to briefly talk about Dr. Tiller and the so-called culture of life he was surrounded with.

Every time we entered the premises, we were greeted with protestors and dead baby placards. One woman shoved a pamphlet in my hand as I tried to avoid running over her fellow warrior.
On the day of the operation, we were interviewed by government officials. They asked my wife if she was coerced into this and was she sure she really wanted to do this. They also helpfully informed us that 60% (or 80%, I forget) of couples who go through this end up in divorce. This was 10 minutes before the operation.

Dr. Tiller faced this and much worse every day. I have seen social workers and other NGO types w/ huge messiah complex. Dr. Tiller was the complete opposite. He was kind, compassionate and dedicated to his work. This ethic was instilled in every one of his extraordinary staff. He spent a lot of time counseling us, never nudging us in any particular direction.

Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

"Dr. Tiller’s defiance, his caring spirit, his commitment to a woman’s right to an abortion, and his sacrifice must serve as a challenge to all those who would not see women reduced to enslavement as forced child-breeders." -- Revolution newspaper (revcom.us)

Dr. Tiller was a courageous and caring doctor and a hero.I hope people will find the ways to honor him and to protest his assassination. There is a protest being planned for tomorrow, Tuesday in San Francisco's Civic Center (contact Worldcantwait.org for details. Revolution Books in Berkeley will hold a discussion Thursday evening at 7pm. Please spread the word.

I couldn't help but tear up when I watched this video. I only wish I could do more for this cause. I myself have had to had an abortion, luckily I was able to make my choice early on and it wasn't a complicated issue for me to get what I needed to make my choice. I don't know what women are going through when they need to seek a late term abortion. But I can imagine it is a very difficult situation and they need all the support and love that we can give them instead of making them fear for their lives and their doctor's life. You were a good man Dr. Tiller, that I know. Thank you for supporting women in a way that so few other Americans will or can.
