remember, it's not over yet, contact your representatives and tell them to follow through on Obama's ab-only cuts!

and that should have said "we heart Rachel", but the text editor didn't like the heart

just for the sake of accuracy, abstinence only education has been government funded for a long time before W. Bush

this site provides a nice overview of the history of abstinence only education: http://www.nomoremoney.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.viewPage&pageID=947&nodeID=5

very happy to see that Obama is changing things, but it irks me that news / media outlets are assuming this was only Bush - when the fact is that abstinence-only education has been supported by our gov't quietly and consistently for almost 30 years (since reagan), and it's very interesting to note that the passage of extra funding for it came through in 1996 as an addendum to a welfare reform act which passed during the Clinton administration...

i think it just goes to show how historically insidious abstinence-only education has really been, and how this is really bigger than overturning just something Bush did, and really about fixing the mistakes of the past four administrations.

here's hoping that all changes now.

I'd never heard of the virginity rules website. You can bet I'm going there right now though.
