what did she say? Help please, for us Deaf feminists!!!

Here's a rough transcript I found:

"Hi, I am Portia de Rossi. When I got married all I was thinking about was my own joy at committing to love my partner for the rest of my life. I didn’t think about all the people that I was hurting by getting married. That was selfish.

So, I want to apologize to all those people whose lives have been affected by me getting married.

To Elaine Sutler, who suffered painful and debilitating paper cuts from holding up her simple message of intolerance. To Amanda Milch, who came down with pneumonia while protesting my marriage in the rain.

To George Binder, whose mind was so tragically blown by the idea of gays getting married, he has to spend the rest of his life wearing this hat. To Buddy the dog, who was forced to wear this ridiculous sign even though he, himself, is gay.

Thanks to Proposition 8, good people and animals like these will never again be subjected to the horrors of gay people getting married. But for me, it is too late. I know there is no way I can make up for the pain I have caused. All I can say is: I am sorry.

Paid for Married Gay People Who Are Sorry. And The National Coalition of Bonobo Chimps."

Feministing writers, we see pleas for transcripts on just about every video posted. I found this one with a simple Google search. Could posters please work at including transcripts (or links to rough approximations like this one) with videos?

thank you! that was well done, I like the video. and I really, REALLY wish Youtube would come with transcripts, but sadly they dont. I want to watch Chris Crocker's videos but there are no transcripts :-(

Some YouTube users are awesome enough to put up transcripts, so don't forget to check comments below videos. (Although comment threads there aren't always fun reading...)

I've had really good luck just doing simple Google searches when I want a transcript--for this one it was "transcript of Portia De Rossi's apology on Jimmy Kimmel," and then I did a tiny bit of link-hunting within the second hit. For other videos it can be tough to know which terms to search if you haven't already watched the video, and I imagine for some it's darn near impossible if you can't hear the audio.

There's actually an option to add CCs to YouTube videos, something that I think Feministing might want to keep in mind for the next time they make a video. It's super easy to use, as well. Here's a tutorial:

Unfortunately I think the vast majority of YouTube users are too lazy/ ignorant/ apathetic to actually use the CC function.

Frickin' hillarious!!!! I had read about this the other day but I forgot to try and look it up online...and now here it is. Fantastic :)

Awww they are so cute! I just watched her interview on Ellen's show, too. I'm so happy for them.

This video also reminds me of...

=)

One minor point -- the clip slights bonobos with that term "bonobo chimps." Bonobos are recognized as a species in their own right. Equal species recognition, please! :-)

She didn't apologize to me for ruining my fantasy of her showing up at my door asking me to marry her.

This further convinces me that Portia and Ellen would be the COOLEST couple to hang out with. They're both so funny!

I know, right? I have some major friend-crushes on both of them. I really just want to go out on a double-date. Also, Tina Fey. I'd pass out.

Though I identify as straight (same guy, 6 years), I seem to only crush on women. Must be 'cuz they/we are so freakin' awesome.

It's funny but I wish she would drop her fake American accent (she's Australian). I'm so fed up of Australian actors in Hollywood having to put on American accents, can Americans not understand us?

You'd think they could, but I can never seem to get them to understand me when I make a booking at a restaurant...

HA! That pretty much sums up the biggest problem with their argument.

Ha ha, that's so great.

I love over-the-top ironic humor.

She's hot. Way to go Ellen!

I liked her better with the Australian accent.

This video reminds me of another from the Jimmy Kimmel Show. Here's George Takei from Star Trek, coming out against homophobia:
