Breaking News: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Hospital

According to the NYT:

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had surgery Thursday after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the court said.

Ginsburg, 75, had the surgery at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She will remain in the hospital for seven to 10 days, said her surgeon, Dr. Murray Brennan, according to a release issued by the court.

The court announcement said the cancer is apparently in the early stages.

RBG is one of the most badass people I can think of on the entire face of the planet.

I adore this woman's... umn... I'm lacking the words here, I think, but wit and grit and audacity are all words in the right direction.

I have trouble thinking of anyone I admire more than this woman. I really hope that catching it early means she'll be okay.

Wishing her a speedy recovery. She's a true feminist ally.

This is such upsetting news, I gasped and covered my mouth when I saw it in the Times. I truly hope she will recover and be able to continue serving on the Court.

Sidenote: why such an old picture of her? I much prefer to think of her in her 70s, donning her justice apparel.

I hate to be the one to type it but pancreatic cancer has ridiculous mortality & morbidity -- people don't usually last 6 months past diagnosis. After all she's given to this country, may Judge Ginsburg prove a miracle.
