Ha. The stool of American foreign policy.
A sound economic policy is important for our future as well. Too bad it's so confusing for most people, and the economists themselves don't really understand it.
The bottom line is we need to going forward in the future borrow less, accept a lower level of consumption, produce more, and change our focus from pure GDP and materialism toward sustainable development, collective welfare for happiness, and humility. That is the fourth (hidden) stool of our foreign policy.
Obama has 4 years to get us going on that path which is not a long time considering the scale of the task.
I'm sorry, but the idea that we should consume less and produce more doesn't make sense. Production for it's own sake is pointless.
Growth, growth, growth is not sustainable. I don't necessarily have the answers, but I know the old answers don't work.
I must confess that I find the alternate definition of stool adds a whole other dimension to the conversation.
Well, I'm no economist (NOT my best subject), but if we can find markets abroad for our goods, it wouldn't be pointless.
If our economy is dependent on Americans spending beyond our means, it will catch up with us eventually. Case in point: the mortgage crisis.
Umm... I keep getting plastic surgery ads at the top of the page. Just a small concern.
I think she will do a great job she was my state senator (not my Prez choice however) and she is smart and tough and yeah a little mean. That's what I like about her. She can get the job done.
Everyone I know who works in or with government says the professionals are thrilled by the new cabinet secretaries. One of the less covered of Bush's catastrophes has been the demoralization and exodus from public service of the people who actually implement policies and make things happen. It'll be nice to have intelligent and responsible leaders who believe that government can and should accomplish something other than be looted by the president's friends.
