Sitting at home and watching it on TV/the computer. I was gonna go, but now I'm not. Woowoo.
Skipping class!
Me too!
And going through many waves of emotions...
Nice, I'm thinking about putting up a liveblog post - like we did with the debates....what do folks think?
good idea!
My dad and stepmother got tickets to the inauguration, but I'm stuck in England watching the CNN website.
live in DC, but not willing to deal with the crowds and hordes of people, so sitting here watching on our new LCD TV! we were at the concert on sunday, so i got my fill of crowds and insanity then and really had no desire to go out in the chilly winds for hours on end :)
Same exact sitch w/ me. Went to the concert on Sunday, which was cool. But I started feeling sick almost immediately afterwards and today I can't bring myself to leave my couch. So I'll be watching on tv/online.
We're having friends over for a watching party (we're one of the only homes with a TV, haha) and making PANCAKES, eggs, and fruit salad.
I have Rhetoric of Women's Studies from 11-noon. My prof is having us meet in the activity room with a big screen to watch. My prof is awesome.
I'm stuck at work, but I'm definitely going to the break room to watch. I'm so excited that I can hardly sit still!
I'm leaving for school tomorrow so I'm packing/cleaning/going crazy while watching. And listening to my mom freak out thinking that we won't be done with what we need to do in time to watch it live.
I have the only home with cable, so we're doing about the same thing as Becca (actually, my sister's coming over and her name is Becca! I love coincidences.) except with biscuits and donuts so we can properly sit in front of the TV and eat without looking at our food. We are also all wearing red white and blue like huge geeks.
Favourite part of the day so far: receiving a text at 7:30 saying "Holy sh*t i'm gonna be there!" from the friend who got me into feministing.
I have to miss the address. I have an appointment. Boo! Maybe we can put up the address ex post facto? Please! *puppy dog eyes*
I may have to miss the address because my husband's grandmother passed away over the weekend and we will be with his family all day. Hopefully we can watch it but I'm not sure. I will be coming back later though for the info :)
I'm glued to Keith Olbermann, and don't expect to be moving any time soon. OH MY GOD THERE HE IS!
Sadly, I am at work, but our wonderful supervisors have a laptop with a projector set up so we can watch! We have to keep the volume low because we work on a hotline, but it's better than nothing!
The office has TVs set up in the conference rooms for us to watch, but I'm skeptical of my ability to keep my eyes dry!
I'm sick today :(
Of course, that means I can skip class and watch! It's a good omen!
...allowing myself to be distracted from the dissertation long enough to - - -
a) put up an American flag for the first time since 2001,
b) watch Fox News coverage (the schadenfreude, it's delicious) of the Inauguration,
c) allow myself to yo-yo between tears of fear (will the Reich-Wing get him?)and tears of joy.
Not going anywhere, because I live on the edge of Baltimore and traffic towards DC today is AWFUL. So I shall have to watch it on TV, which is okay, I can't stand long periods of time without fainting, so I could never last the inauguration, so works for me.
Personally I'll be at work during the whole thing, I'll probably watch the Daily Show's coverage tonight. Which is probably going to be the best commentary anyway.
I personally don't want to see Rick Warren's face and I'm still angry enough to keep from being excited about this.
I'm sitting on the couch next to my honey, who called in sick, and feeling ridiculously happy.
Sadly, it doesn't seem as effective to turn your back on Rick Warren when you're just watching it on tv.
Here we go! *tears*
Took the day off to watch. I wish I could be in D.C. but watching it at home will have to do. It's almost here!!!
I have class but I'm sure I can watch it on YouTube later. I'm wearing my Obama shirt to celebrate this day.
I think watching Bush fly away was the most satisfying moment for me.
it was certainly satisfying!
The headlines make me grin:
President Obama bids farewell to Former President Bush
Former President George W. Bush has left Washington
Watching CNN coverage at work, and have my DVR set to record too. Loved the performance from Yo Yo Ma...need to find that song on iTunes.
Agreed on the song. Love Yo-Yo Ma.
I also was teary for Rev. Lowery imagining the way it must feel to have been there for "I Have a Dream" and now this. When I was in Georgia working on anti-death penalty campaigns, he occasionally lent himself to the cause, and I've always been so impressed with his conviction and courage.
I don't think the enormity of being the first AA president really hit me until today. I was sitting there thinking that I couldn't have imagined this 4 years ago and very proud of my fellow citizens.
showing the live stream to my middle school class today :)
I usually take my laptop and write at a local coffee shop with lots of progressive folks. I went this AM and hubby met me there to watch. So it was wonderful to watch with a big group of liberal-minded people. The best was that friends of ours had their infant daughter there in an Obama onesie - ah, the next generation of liberals.
News coverage started at 3am for us out here on Hawaii time, so I was still sleeping when my awesome friends in D.C. started sending me picture messages of the Mall! I love you guys! What a joyous day.
Skipping class, then going to an inauguration party tonight!
Skipping class, then going to an inauguration party tonight!
Unfortunately, I missed it, I had a pressing medical issue to take care of. I'll have to watch it later tonight
I watched it on TV with my preschool class. They burst into applause every time the crowd in Washington cheered. It was, of course, adorable.
I'm proud of my country for the first time in my real adult life. I did not know what this feels like.
Still crying.
