I heart you Feministing! Thanks Jessica for working to take the weight loss ads down. You ladies rule!
I'm sure this has already been discussed somewhere.. but why are we bombarded with male enhancement/ learn to be her hero in bed ads?
Idunno, I guess I've always thought that was a strange choice in advertisement for feministing...
Huh, I've never seen those! Unfortunately, the way our ad system works, we don't always (in fact, most often don't) get to choose our advertisers. We get ads through several third party companies that put the ads in for us. One of them sends us new advertisers for approval, another doesn't. When an ad comes up we think is offensive, we email the company and they take it down.

I always thought they were directed at the trolls...
I have to say that I am really offended by your comment Rachel in Wy. You say those ads are directed at trolls, but those ads are targeted at men. Are you implying that there are no men here who aren't trolls, and that it is impossible for women to troll this website? Thanks for the sexism...
Jesus. It was a joke. And I'm well aware that there are a number of men here, since I exchange comments with them all the time (Doubleb, Thomas, aleks, Stephen, Markus...). But in my experience the trolls who frequent this site are a particular kind of man with ...ego... issues. And since my comment was directed at trolls, not men in general, I'm not sure why you think it's sexist. Are you claiming that all trolls are male? That sounds like a sexist assumption to me.
Back to Humorless Feminist Land with thee!
For what it's worth, I thought it was funny and saw what you were getting at.
Thanks! ;)
I also was surprised to see an e-harmony ad the other day...
Yup, we've asked them to take that down as well.
Thank you for trying to keep the borders crap-free. I turn off my ad-block for this site so you all don't lose money from unloaded banner ads, so it's appreciated that I don't (usually) have to look at garbage.
I guess I am so used to seeing weight loss and dating ads that it never even noticed. Anyhow, thanks.
Sad part is, I didn't even notice them. Oh look, a stretch mark.
I was just thinking about that...I didn't even notice the ads on here yesterday until I read the post.
Honestly I'm more annoyed by the ads (there are currently three on this page) for the known scam company "LifeLock".
How long should it take to completely get rid of those weight loss ads? I'm still seeing those "obey this rule" banners.
I only obey André the Giant.
These blog ads are easier to ignore than the youtube ones. If I see another ad for a JAPANESE WIFE I'm going to choke someone.
And now there's ads for the BORDER PATROL??? Ah, at least that made me laugh.
Yeah, wtf is that about??
