Unfortunately more to come from Joe the Plumber

Joe the Plumber, the apparent star of the McCain campaign, has just begun his foray into American society. Rumor has it he has an upcoming book, Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream as well as a website and country music deal. Really?

What about a book deal and website for Ann Nixon Cooper, who Obama eloquently referenced in his acceptance speech? There are a lot of American's whose experience deserves to be given a voice and platform. Sorry Joe, but I don't think you're it.

If Joe writes any book it should be, "How to Exploit Yourself by Becoming a Political Pawn"

Honestly who gives a flying fuck about a lying, race-baiting, tax-evading, allegedly wife-beating, unlicensed plumber who can only spout off about concepts (like socialism) that he clearly doesn't understand???

I guess hats off to him for having the good luck to be brought into a major campaign based on a steaming pile of bullshit and making a career out of it, but why on earth would anyone still bother to pay attention? Hopefully anyone with any interest in his book will be questioned as to why they care. Certainly there are more interesting people who have done more important things with their lives that one could choose to read about.

Jeez, chill the fuck out. Get the sand out of your twat and cut the guy some slack. Our guy won, his lost. Have some fucking dignity.

[0+] Author Profile Page gopher replied to jessicarabbit :

I think jessicarabbits a troll.

[0+] Author Profile Page jessicarabbit replied to gopher :

I think you're so shallow that you can't imagine a feminist who doesn't want everyone thinking we're all foaming at the mouth. Get a life.

What happened to the "I dislike this comment" option?

[0+] Author Profile Page AlmostAmanda replied to jessicarabbit :

I find it interesting that I am being told to "chill the fuck out" and "have some dignity" by someone who also tells me to "get the sand out of (my) twat." Very classy.

I wish Joe the Plumber the best (just as I do for anyone), but the fact is that as far as I know, he has made no significant contribution to this world nor overcome any major obsticles that would render his life story worth reading.* He's just some guy who was held up by the McCain campaign as an" "everyman searching for the American dream, when in fact he was/is a bold faced liar. Given that there are other books oth there by more honest, dignified people who have done real work to earn their success and/or make this world a better place, I see no reason why anyone would actually waste their time or money reading about a guy who is little more than a cheesy reality show star.

Oops, forgot to finish that thought:

* My life story would fall into the same category.

Nitpicking: no apostrophe necessary to pluralize. Americans, not American's.

I've already forgotten about this guy. Who the What? Oh, right, that man who symbolized what a terrible campaign McCain ran. Is he still around? Huh.

Seriously enough with the Joe the Plumber, this is the longest 15 mins in history.

Want a book deal? Say your name is Joe and then play the 'common man' part in all its stereotypes - uninformed, xenophobic, and conservative (despite the fact that the person you really are would be better served by the liberal party - that is, if your name wasn't Joe the White Dude).

Seriously, this guy is an insult to working Americans.

What exactly were the ideals he was fighting for? The ability not to pay higher taxes on a purely theoretical income?

I do look forward to his first single "Those Socialists Can't Tax My Imaginary Money". Chart topper!

"I refuse to pay less taxes", maybe?

These comments come off as quite judgmental. The post, too. The fact is, Joe the Plumber is popular because there are so many people that identify with him. I think that might be a better topic of conversation than just a post bashing one single person who is really representative of many many people..Which of course is extremely problematic. But bashing him won't change his popularity or his symbolism..

and this comment:
Honestly who gives a flying fuck about a lying, race-baiting, tax-evading, allegedly wife-beating, unlicensed plumber who can only spout off about concepts (like socialism) that he clearly doesn't understand???"
I do. We all should. These are voters.

I don't know. I think Joe's popular because McCain and then some media lackeys picked him up and used him as a campaign gambit. A failed campaign gambit.

Ultimately, it turned out that Joe might represent "many, many" people, but not a majority. And I also don't know how popular he is. I suppose we'll see how those book sales go.

A last thing. Even if he does turn out to be popular, it doesn't change the fact that he's a jerk. Sorry for being judgmental about that.

What so we should all applaud the man because he wrongly identifies in terms of class position. TO do wo would be to approve of living in ignorance. Before you throw around terms that you don't understand it would behoove a thinking person to a least have the decency of learning what they mean. The problem is the US is rabidly anti-intellectual as though having a thinking brain in your head is a fault.

He’s also a welfare recipient. Do you think the audience he was/is appealing to would be so understanding if they knew about that?

And no amount of “understanding” of his popularity or symbolism will alter the fact that he’s a cold turd on a paper plate.

Why is his experience any less valid than an old lady who is voting?

He hasn't found a target audience in the Feministing crowd. That doesn't mean he won't find success outside of here.

I don't see how including a bunch of charges thrown around on liberal sites is any different from Fox News. If people want to dig and find validated information to throw at him, great. If not, I'd like to see less venom.

I am so irritated by the fact that people seem to think that this guy is worth talking about. His greatest accomplishment in life, so far as anyone can tell, was some cheap political baiting based on a bunch of lies he made up. The only thing he was ever trying to do was get Obama to say something that the McCain campaign (which he had contributed money to) could use against him. Obviously it backfired, and I wish he would just take the hint and retreat back into the woodwork. Anyone that would buy a book or a CD that came out of this guy is an idiot.

"Joe the Plumber" wasn't a successful political strategy because the "people" did not relate to him. I lived in Ohio for a good part of my life and, trust me, some guy who forsees buying his own business AND making $250,000 a year is not considered an "average Joe." This is where McCain's campaign strategy went wrong. An average Joe or Joanne doesn't own a business that makes that much a year and then complain about paying more taxes. Your average Ohioan was probably having a nice, big belly laugh at this--while trying to raise their kids on their unemployment check. Times are REALLY bad in the Great Lakes states. Joe was a joke!

YOUR 15 MINUTES ARE UP, "JOE"!

My dad dressed up as Joe the Plumber for Halloween. Gah!

Yeah, some people do identify with him: uneducated, xenophobic, selfish people with entitlement issues. In other words, nobody deserving of our deference.

This is the most pious post I've ever seen on a website. You should be thankful that you were allowed the privilege of a good education, but no, you'd rather rub it in peoples' faces. I want to vomit.

"LEAVE JOEY ALOOOONE! HE'S JUST A HUMAN!!!"

[0+] Author Profile Page Robbert replied to SarahMC :

Doesn't that mean that Joe was the scariest thing your father could imagine? ^.~

Unforch, my dad's a right-winger; he probably idolizes ol' Joe. He and my mom dressed up to attend a Halloween party at church.

Why are you drawing attention to him? I don't hear Republicans talking about JtP anymore, they're trying to forget the whole pitiful incident.

While I'd love to see a book deal for Ann Nixon Cooper, telling us of her life through the 20th century, she is 106 years old. I doubt she's going to be all that keen on spending a year writing it...

He's just another annoying ignorant right-wing ideologue who's trying to make a buck. He has no discernible talents or original ideas. If we ignore him, he'll go away.

If we stop talking about him will he go away? And SarahMC, I gotta meet your Dad!

[0+] Author Profile Page gopher said:

This dudes a pig. What a freakin liar. I can't believe its so common now to simply give 15 minutes to any ignorant dumbass. Joe the Plumber can go shit himself.

Like Wilde before her, Woolf seems to balk at the narrative limitations of art. Wilde overcame these limitations by imagining a painting that physically changed over time and told its story through those changes. Woolf focused on process, making the story of Lily’s work on her painting more important than the finished product. When the painting is done, the story is over.

To the Lighthouse juxtaposes the time experience of reading and writing with that of painting, and it privileges the temporality of the artistic process over the finished work of art. In other words, Lily’s experience of creation is as important, perhaps more important than what she creates. Her painting may be stored in the attic, but the story of its making, the narrative of discovery and development, becomes the stuff of literature.

I do not like it though it popular people in their circles canadian pharmacy.
