I don't think it's quite over yet, unfortunately. CNN says that only 47% of precincts are reporting, and it's 55 to 45.

Thanks Sevi - for the kind words and all of your hard work! In the BEST MOOD EVER.

Yay! Hooray for a pro-choice, pro-woman U.S! I am so happy that tonight seems to be going well for women's voices, issues, and choices!

Whoooo! Well done South Dakota and my undying gratitude to all of those that fought for our rights up there!!!

Other referenda, because I'm a pessimist:

Same-sex marriage bans in AZ and FL won.
Prop 8 and Prop 4 in California are both winning.

BUT Colorado's fertilized-egg thing got smacked down. >:D

Yay for South Dakota and Colorado!
But boo to California, my home state. Especially Prop 8, if it passes, someone had better sue TOMORROW. It has no business even being on the ballot.

Woot! Thank goodness!

Looks like Prop 4 in California is going down too. It's bittersweet, though, as it looks as though Prop 8 will pass.

More bad news -- sorry, but it's eating at me:

Florida banned gay marriage.

Arizona banned gay marriage.

Arkansas banned gay adoption.

Nebraska ended affirmative action.

Prop 8 and Prop 4 are both winning in California; so is an amendment to end affirmative action in Colorado.

However, I'm seriously thrilled about South Dakota, and damn, Colorado wasn't having any of that life-at-conception bullshit.

Oh, and... President-Elect Obama. Plus some House and Senate seats. I'll be sleeping okay tonight.

Thanks for posting those as horrid as it was to read them.

However, I am getting fairly real time results on the Props in CA, and it's showing Prop 4 as losing right now, so there is still hope.
I'm holding out hope Prop 8 will lose too, but it doesn't look good.

Watch the California Props here:

(that links to Prop 4, you can seen the others with the links on the righthand side)

I am so glad that pretty much all the anti-choice measures failed (and I lobbied hard for No on 4), but I am pretty emotionally devastated about the losses for same-sex couples in multiple states. I'm pretty sure prop 8 is gonna pass, and I honestly don't know how I'm gonna function for the rest of the week... I just hope my marriage will stay safe.

It is hard today. So joyful, so sad. I am not in California, but I was rooting for Prop 8's defeat. It would have been nice for California to set-up to the plate, do what is right, and lead the way last night.

You and your spouse – as well as every other same sex couple – are in my thoughts. I sincerely hope your marriage, your family will be preserved. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

Cool! Now we can help Planned Parenthood keep even more black children from being born!

[0+] Author Profile Page ShelbyWoo replied to Sam :

There is NO EVIDENCE that Planned Parenthood as an organization has or is trying to "reduce the population of blacks in this country." NONE. (there is absolutely no proof on the anti-choice/anti-birt control website you linked to either). Thanks for playing though!

Thank fucking god. When are these nut-jobs going to crawl back into their fucking holes and realize that their abortion ban just ain't happening?

[0+] Author Profile Page ShelbyWoo replied to asseenontv :

Not until Leslie “I want to bar a woman for exercising her rights as I did when I had my abortion” Unruh tells them to.

[0+] Author Profile Page ShelbyWoo replied to ShelbyWoo :

Um, yeah, that should read:
"I want to bar a woman from exercising..."

Sorry, didn't get much sleep last night and I'm still loopy!
