Dear Mr. Williams, you see, despite what all you in the MSM think a feminist is, in actuality, Governor Palin was never a feminist to begin with.

Personally, I laughed out loud when I heard Palin say that she was a feminist, because it was so clear that she wanted to completely change the meaning of the word to mean "chick who does stuff without values" instead of "chick who does stuff and has pro-chick values."

It was a pretty stupid statement initially and, like you, Jess, I'm okay with her changing her mind on this one.

But I have to say, I find it laughable that Palin is talking about how she's not a fan of labels and whatnot when she's all too happy to label Obama a socialist and hint at his ties to terrorists. I guess that labeling is fair. She only doesn't like labels that will hurt her or her party. Like the other week when she refused to label people that blow up abortion clinics as domestic terrorists.

I think it is impossible for Sara Palin to label herself especially as a feminist. A feminist is a person that ensures that the rights of women are actually being done without prejudice. From what I've heard of her so far in my opinion she doesn't really stuck up for women. She wants to do away with abortion and birth control. This is one of the main rights that women has fought so hard for. The only thing Sara Palin she should label herself as if anything is a hypocrite. Why? Because she is. First she wants to overturn Roe v. Wade because "it's an abomination to God to kill a life" but is it also a sin to have sex before marriage and have babies out of wed-lock.

She probably backtracked when she realized that "feminist" is a dirty word to her conservative fan base. Don't give her credit for realizing that she was trampling all over us and the feminists who came before us.

What annoys people is political campaigns "trying to label different parts of America different"???? Wasn't Palin the one who started the trend of labeling different parts of America different by splitting the country into pro-America and not pro-America? Are any democrats labeling parts of America? Well, besides Murtha...

Hmmm, if she's not into labels, what's with the little "hockey mom" bit? And what's with suggesting that other people are unAmerican? Sounds like a label to me. But this is definitely a good thing for feminists. Whew.

I do find it odd that Palin insisted the New York Times refer to her as "Ms." Palin, a prefix made popular by the same "liberal feminist agenda" Palin is supposed to be a counter to.

yeah so I actually agree with her on this. I think there are too many labels in this country and those labels further the divide between everyone.

However, Gov. Palin and the entire McCain campaign has been labeling people in America. As people before me have said, they have done it to Obama a bunch, but they have also done it to the rest of America. They are trying to put a stark divide between rural and urban areas by calling one good hardworking America and calling the other one elitists "liberals" (because that's now a dirty word).

She should take her own advice.

But I thought she was a "maverick"??? I guess not. She finally realized she doesn't like her vagina as much as we do. Oh well! She can't label herself as a feminist for two reasons: #1-She's NOT a feminist and #2- she doesn't want to alienate her crazy conservative base that think we are a bunch of man hating lesbians who have abortions for fun.

The whole "no labels" thing is such a copout. She obviously doesn't mind labeling all people from small towns as "the REAL Americans" or labeling Obama as a socialist.

A bit bored with the whole Sarah Palin shtick, even if for a while she had an excruciatingly compulsive command of every television set, like David Brent or Michael Scott. Afterall, this is the woman who just the other day couldn't even answer whether blowing up an abortion clinic was equatable to terrorism.

For someone who isn't a fan of labels, she sure is a fan of labels. Hockey Mom, Maverick, REAL American (apparently you have to be from a small town to be one of these), Joe Sixpack, Liberal Elite, Washington Insider, Washington Outsider, blah blah fucking blah. She's the queen of boring buzzwords and rhetoric, it's hilarious to hear her say she doesn't like labels.

Two things:

1) I am the first person to say that Palin is not a feminist. She has not exhibited any real feminist qualities and she is completely ridiculous.

2) It is still unbelievable that someone can not be concerned that they are not sure that they are a feminist. Everyone should be a feminist and it is crazy that she is not worried about questioning this.
