Wow. I hope I *never* have to hear about John McCain's "courage" ever again.
Call me cynical, but I wonder how long it will be before the right wing delves into this woman's life history and calls her a liar.
That was very powerful. I don't know that I would ever have the courage to talk about my rape on television; this woman is so brave for doing this.
What a brave woman.
Now that's courage. Giving birth to a baby you never wanted because the Republican Party forces you by law to do so is not courageous (it's disgusting and I violation of women's basic human rights). Putting your human face on McCain and Palin's wettest dreams for everyone in America IS courageous.
But what I like best about this ad is that she doesn't say whether she had an abortion or decided to remain pregnant, because it really doesn't make a difference.
I also agree that it does not matter whether or not she had an abortion. The purpose of this ad was to show that the Republican party thinks that they can run the lives of women, some who like this girl have tragic stories. She looks to be somewhat around my age and if I were ever in her situation I should be able to make up my own mind about what I want to do.
Brave indeed, this is an very important ad!
This almost moved me to tears, as did some of the comments on the youtube page.
This made me want to curl up like a piece of paper touced by a flame. A womans choice to consentthat has been overridden, to sex, should never be overridden.
What a heartbreaking and powerful ad. Simple but true.
How old is that girl? She looks and sounds like a minor. Not being mean in case this comment is coming off that way. I'm just curious on how old she is.
Jessica, great post. We've got to motivate the democratic base to vote IN DROVES. This is exactly the type of thing we need.
I honestly feel sad for the girl in this video. No one has the choice when it comes to being sexually harrassed, abused, or raped. Although I'm personally against abortions I still feel as though the government has no right to tell women what to do what their bodies. In this case, I can totally understand why would this young lady wants an abortion. It is not up to me or the government to decide what someone does to their body and the potential life in it. I feel this way cause that person will be the one to live with that decision for the rest of their life and no one else and I think that the government should leave it that way as well...
If this doesn't convince anyone, then humanity is a waste and another race should abominate humanity post haste.
