With all the vicious, racist attacks on Obama as of late and the McCain campaign's desperate attempts to tie him with terrorism, we have found that McCain is the one who has connections with domestic terrorists.
Not only does he have a relationship with former extreme anti-choice activist Paul Schenck, but has overwhelmingly voted against bills that would protect abortion clinics from anti-choice terrorists. Via Think Progress:
On multiple occasions throughout his career, McCain sought to limit the government's ability to punish violent anti-choice fanatics by:- Voting against making anti-choice violence a federal crime. As the Jed Report notes, McCain voted in 1993 and 1994 against making "bombings, arson and blockades at abortion clinics, and shootings and threats of violence against doctors and nurses who perform abortions" federal crimes.
- Opposing Colorado's "Bubble Law." McCain said he opposed Colorado's "Bubble Law," which prohibited abortion protesters from getting within 8 feet of women entering clinics [Denver Post, 2/27/00]. The law was later upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
- Voting to allow those fined for violence at clinics to avoid penalties by declaring bankruptcy. NARAL Pro-Chioce America notes that McCain "voted to allow perpetrators of violence or harassment at reproductive-health clinics to avoid paying the fines assessed against them for their illegal acts by declaring bankruptcy."
This is not to mention he sat in silence at an event while anti-choice extremist Marylin Shannon lauded a woman currently in jail for shooting former Navy veteran and doctor who provides abortion care. Check it out:

In fairness, as Olbermann says in that clip, the Oregon event in question was actually in 1993 so it was not a "recent" event. Not that this makes much of a difference -- sitting idly by during public praise for violent terrorist actions isn't something you should necessarily get a pass on because it happened 15 years ago. Not to mention having a voting record that proves you really don't care about clinic violence anyway...
I think the much stronger argument in that clip is that the Board of Directors on which Obama and Ayers served was for something run by the Annenbergs, who are conservatives and McCain supporters, not some kind of radical organization.
This just makes me hate John McCain more than I already did. Also assures me of my answers to a "Controversial" (i.e. Political) Myspace Survey (shhh they can be fun!) in which a question asked who would make a better president. The answer is obvious - when over half the population of a country is female, it makes so much more sense to vote for a candidate that gives a damn about women's rights.
The survey also asked if the world would fall apart if we had a woman president. My answer? "Is this a real question?"
Domestic terrorism has no place in this country, thus John McCain has no place in the White House.
He has ties to G. Gordon Liddy, too.

but these anti-choice terrorists are good God-loving Christian terrorists, not the Muslim/Communist/Arab terrorists. THOSE are the REAL terrorists. These people are just good devoted Christians who have enlisted in the army of god....

I don't understand. Aren't these things already crimes, regardless of motivation? Is this a typo, Ann, that should in fact read "making anti-choice violence an act of TERRORISM"? Or is the key part FEDERAL, because ordinary ol' bombings, shootings, and threats of violence are normally piddly little state crimes? If this is so, can someone enlighten me on what implications making them federal crimes would have?
Rosie - im not constitutional scholar, but i think the additional terrorism charge just means the penalties are different - just like hate crime laws. murder, vandalism, violence are all crimes, if it's hate motivated, it adds more in the penalty phase.

essentially where the entire good of the country is involved, federal law rules. and as abortion is a constitutional right, federal protection is better, considering some states have very anti-choice stances.
McCain and Palin are running a sleazy campaign, but he has ties to the Contras and in the 80s even gave them money for buying arms for other countries. He is a very good friend to G. Gordon Liddy who thinks all policemen should be shot in the head and of Oliver North. NONE of his friends have ever recanted what they did or are doing. Maybe that is why he chose another corrupt person to run with him....she has secrets to hide just as he does.
