No pity for Palin
Rebecca Traister has a must read piece at Salon, The Sarah Palin pity party. She's so right on, it's scary.

I'm annoyed with some feminists who's all like, "oh i feel bad for her." Boo hoo, cry me a big fucking river. Sarah Palin damn well know what she was doing when she agreed to join the VP ticket. Oh what!!! It's not a fucking moose-hunting party!!!!
next time, people need to save their pity for a more worthwhile target. I have NO sympathy for Pfailin.
I don't think so. First, when she talks about not having sympathy for Palin, a big chunk of the circumstances she describes are actually McCain. Not McCain, as in "if you only had inside knowledge you'd actually know it's McCain" but McCain, as in she's describing John McCain and the campaign and laying blame on Palin. Second, I worry a little bit about Traister giving cover to sexism, which I think we all can agree has been a big issue in the primary and now in the election. Third, Palin's an awful candidate and I disagree with her about pretty much everything, but the extent to which the lefty blogosphere is getting their rocks off by wallowing in Palin's humiliation just feels plain old wrong to me. I think it's small of the people doing it, but aside from that it feels a little sick.
I totally agree with this article. Palin is the one who agreed to take on this role. She wants to be VP, she should have been prepared for this attention. Did she expect to just waltz right through with nobody scrutinizing her? She thought nobody would ask her the tough questions? Give me a break.
Thank you for disabusing me of lingering Palin-pity. She's a state governor for crying out loud, and so many people treat her like a victim.
