Quick Hit: Monday Morning Palin Poll
Let's use the power of our numbers (of the Feministing community, that is) to switch up these ridiculous polls; vote on this PBS poll which asks whether you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as VP.

I voted "no," but it just didn't seem strong enough.
I wish there was a "hell no" option.
frat4437, as far as I know, that poll is open to everyone. If everyone who discovers the poll votes once, and accurately registers his or her opinion, there is no derailing or overloading.
For all you know, the only people to respond "yes" so far are the members of the We Love Sarah Palin fan club who received an email alert in their mailboxes this morning.
Something is really weird about that poll. A friend sent it to my on Friday night and the numbers haven't changed since then. At all.
I kind of found it weird that her numbers would be that high on a PBS poll. However, I am from a conservative town and Palin seems to be mobilizing white voters, especially female voters here. I think people are identifying with her and instead of questioning her qualifications based on knowledge and experience they are so sick of feeling like people in politics are out of touch with their way of life that they believe Palin as a less experienced and less well known political figure is more likely to understand them and be untouched by corruption. I think there is some sexism going on too, in that people here view women as more nurturing and "good" (unless they are "whore/sluts") or challenging the status quo, so that Palin is being viewed as less corrupt. Of course, she is certainly playing this up with the whole "hockey mom" and PTA member bit. In my observations the voters she is gaining support/excitement from in my town are either people who don't know very much about the parties and usually don't get too involved and people who are conservative and would never have voted for Obama and may or may not have bothered to vote for McCain. Every one is trying to figure out if the Palin supporters are blue women or red women but I think she is gaining a lot of support from female voters who have not been active in either party before and don't have very much knowledge about either of the parties views/candidate's stances.
How is encouraging people to vote a conspiracy? If people are only voting once, it is an accurate view of America. Aside from which, going into a personal attack on someone who hadn't even commented to your post doesn't seem like the best way to promote your point of view.
