Update: Java Jugs

Remember that new and seriously offensive Oregonian coffee chain that we blogged about last week? Well, a couple of feministing readers sent us the news that the bikini-clad baristas have been repeatedly subjected to a dude exposing himself at their drive up window. One of them even threw a cup of hot water at him, to which he allegedly said, "Ooh yeah."

Gross.

And good on the police, who made it clear that, no matter what a woman is wearing, she doesn't have to put up with this kind of sexual harassment.

This is actually a different bikini-barista company than the one in Oregon. Out here in the northwest, we have a coffee stand/kiosk/shop for every street corner, parking lot, and store so it's not surprising there are competitors in the world of 'sexy' coffee making. Although if I remember correctly (I read an article about the Washington company when they first opened) Java Girls has theme days in case you want your coffee served by a half naked cowgirl or maid.

I the attempt by the reporter to imply that the state of dress of the employees brings out this kind of action. For flashers, it seems to have very little to do with the other person, and everything to do with them. They want you to see THEM, I doubt it matters whether a woman is wearing a turtle neck or a bikini. He probably targeted this place because all of its employees are women (his desired audience) and the ease of flashing and driving away. Good for the deputy that kept the blame where it belonged. You can tell by the way his quote is phrased that the reporter had asked the question in a leading way to get the answer he wanted.
