I'm not too familiar with American politics outside the presidential race, but this does sound like a very tragic loss.
Figures. Bush and Cheney will probably live to a ripe old age.
I actually just got this e-mail:

U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first African-American woman to represent Ohio in Congress, has died after suffering a brain aneurysm, said sources familiar with the situation.
She was removed from life support at 12:19 p.m. at Huron Road Hospital, the sources said.
Tubbs Jones, 58, served as a Cuyahoga County judge and prosecutor before succeeding U.S. Rep. Louis Stokes. She has served five terms in Congress and is expected to easily win her sixth in November.

Z-Day is here.
My heart goes out to her family. I hope she pulls through. :(
Here in Cleveland, it's being widely reported that Stephanie Tubbs Jones died at 6:12 p.m.
RIP to a woman who always put the interests of poor and working class women and men first.
Peace to her family...
My coworkers and I heard on the radio this afternoon that she was in the hospital. Everyone was very subdued. She had a lot of fans around here.
What a loss. I don't know what to say.
I am so saddened by this news. I am a native of the Cleveland area, and I've known her name for just about my entire life. She was an amazing woman, and will be greatly missed.
Thank you for posting this.
