Mad love for Maddow

Rebecca Traister has written a profile of Feministing crush subject Rachel Maddow for The Nation. A tiny taste:
Unlike her beautiful, bilious conservative female counterparts or the cocksure boys-on-the-bus analysts, however, Maddow didn't get here by bluster and bravado but with a combination of crisp thinking and galumphing good cheer. Remarkably, this season's discovery isn't a glossy matinee idol or a smooth-talking partisan hack but a PhD Rhodes scholar lesbian policy wonk who started as a prison AIDS activist.
SWOON.

Oh god, THANK YOU. I have had it bad for Rachel since the democratic debates this winter. I will voraciously read that Nation article like I would have read an issue of Teen Beat if I didn't have less superficial concerns at that age.
Hooray for whip-smart activists with something to say instead of blow-dried blow-hards like Michelle Malkin!
I don't think she is an unlikely pundit at all. She has all the best qualities for a good political commentator. She is passionate but not holier than thou. She is intelligent and not condescending. She is funny but not at the expense of others. She is hip but not cooler than thou. Anyway, I have been a huge fan since Unfiltered, and I have always loved her for research, thought and analysis.
Thanks for this!
She is one of my favourite people in the public arena, and she has been basically since I was a kid, from what I remember. She used to be a DJ on my local radio station! Anyways, she is wonderful, hilarious, and spot on. :)
Seriously love her. I watch Olbermann pretty regularly and that's how I actually first "got to know her" so to speak. And after seeing her in more and more places and reading more about her...I've just become more and more impressed by her. Plus, I totally want to take her out on a date. :)
Oooh, LlesbianLlama! Us, too! My husband's been loving her for about 7 years or so. Though he was happy for the AirAmerica gig, he was v. sad to lose her from the River. She is *not* a new crush in our house!
I have a policy geek crush on her!
WabiSabi- Not here, either! Loooongtime crush for the whole family, complicated only slightly by the fact that she has been with her partner for... a long time. She used to talk about her on the radio!
She is REALLY awesome. My parents don't have a TV, so we appreciate the kind souls who upload her amazingness to youtube.
