The Center for Media Justice (where I work) is turning 5 and we are having a big party/fundraiser to celebrate our victories and to keep building THIS SATURDAY. If you live in Oakland you have to be there since it is going to be the hottest party of the summer. By supporting media justice you are helping disenfranchised communities, such as women, people of color, working class communities and queer folk, not only have access to media, but actually change the system that controls how our stories are told. As we know at Feministing, every inaccurate story about our communities hurts us. Without a just and fair media we will not see the change we want.
