Bill Kristol says "Republicans are much more open to strong women"
I say that's hilarious considering who this is coming from. I'm a week late on this, but it's a necessary mention. Via Think Progress:
Kristol: I think Hillary Clinton was gracious, she's put behind her the horrible sexism and misogyny the Democratic primary voters demonstrated. I'm appalled by it, personally. Never would have happened in the Republican Party, you know...we're -- Republicans are much more open to strong women. That's why McCain is going to put Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska, on the ticket.
This is coming from a guy who said that "white women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that" and was named in the Media Hall of Shame by the National Organization for Women.

More open to strong women than Bill Maher and Keith Olbermann? I can sort of buy that.
He's blatantly lying through his teeth and he knows it. It's another poor attempt to reel in those supposedly white, bitter women who couldn't get Clinton the vote. See that smug grin that says, "I'm pulling one on you, women! Now you'll vote McCain for sure!"
Republicans open to strong women? Bwaahaahaahaa!! These are the folks who savaged Hillary Clinton throughout the 1990s! Maybe the reasons Dems didn't vote for Hillary en masse has nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with her being a Clinton.
strong womenz like ann coulter and michelle malkin and phyllis schlafly!
I thought they were just more open to airport toilet sex and boning congressional paiges?
That is funny. He is so lying.
You gotta be kidding me. Republicans HATE strong women... that's why they tell women they have a "place"! That's why strong women are lesbians, nazis, hairy, bitches! Please.
I hate the Republicans. If anyone stands today for regression, its them.
Obviously, he thinks hes pulling a savvy political media move. What I especially hate about it, is his obvious insincerity concerning women and how he thinks he can just take it out for voters and stuff it back up his ass when its over. Equality and social respect is not something you just pull out of the closet for image, and toss when its no longer attractive. Its pretty fucked up what this says about society and our governments attitude torwards women and equality.

That's a short video someone captured of Krystol getting pied at my alma mater. This was before I was a student there. There was quite a bit of controversy surrounding what should happen to the students involved. And there was a lot of criticism going around about how we the students weren't supporting free speech, etc. It's still kinda satisfying to watch though..... :-)
Republicans love strong women--when they toe the party line.
Actually, I don't doubt that the Republicans are very open to strong women -- as long as they can benefit the party in a publicity capacity. Being hard up for some indication that the typical Republican agenda might appeal to women, I think the party just loves having the likes of Condi Rice and Liddy Dole on its side.
Maybe the reasons Dems didn't vote for Hillary en masse has nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with her being a Clinton.
Except for the 18 million people who did vote for her, right?
I'm sorry, I agree with you about the way Republicans treated her in the 90s, but I'm getting tired of people acting like everyone hates her and almost no one supports her. I don't know if I would necessarily call it sexist, but it is factually inaccurate.
