TrueTube on abortion

A WORLD WITHOUT ABORTION

The UK's TrueTube has a series of videos on abortion and reproductive rights. They're all pretty interesting, but this one in particular struck me.

Excellent video.

Meanwhile, the fight continues in the U.S.: http://www.nowfoundation.org/news/spring-2008/reprostates.html

The choice to have an abortion is a deeply personal one, and one which resides solely with a woman.

That this issue ever entered the public discourse, becoming the political football it has is very unfortunate. I can't help but feel that these decades of the abortion wars will be looked at by future generations with dismay.

I actually just sent feministing an email on an article from our "beloved" foxnews.com about how abortion pills killed a girl two days after taking them...catch here...it happened in 2005 and foxnews is just reporting on it NOW!!

Seriously...WTF?!

I think it's just a conservative ploy to get ppl to become more antiabortion and vote for McCain.

If you want to check it out, the URL is...

The comments are sickening!

I think that depends on future generations' religious affiliations and opinions on when life beings.

As it stands now, I'm dismayed by previous decades because abortion was illegal and dangerous for women.

Manon Jones, 18, described by her mother as a devout Christian teen, opted to terminate her pregnancy at six weeks because she feared the pregnancy would cause conflict within her "Muslim" boyfriend's family, the Daily Mail reported Friday.

FoxNews is reporting a story from an UK newspaper - on the same day it was made available.

No malicious delay.

And there is a public health issue involved, people need to know that this kind of problem can result from RU-486 and how critical it is for the hospital to react quickly.

Not everything is a rightwing conspiracy plot.

The abortion video on TrueTube is interesting, but there are a lot of other videos that I am dubious about, such as the "I've slept with 2000 prostitutes video". They all seem to be presenting average people's opinions and stereotypes. This can be good if you know that is what you are getting, and are curious about the view on the street, but I think a lot of people will see these videos and assume that they have been checked for accuracy and have the experts' stamp of approval.

I wish to retract my just previous commment.

After doing a little reseach into the Daily Mail, it appears that this newspaper is a questionable source and there may be another agenda besides a public health concern by FoxNews in choosing to highlight the DM reporting.

Sorry.

"The choice to have an abortion is a deeply personal one, and one which resides solely with a woman."

If that is the case doesn't that suggest that if the choice is to have the child is made then the male party is free from responsibility?

No.

After the birth, all the relevant legal responsibilities apply.

The man's responsibilities are not voided by the technicality that in order for the fetus to grow, and later, be born, the woman has to be willing to carry it to term.

"doesn't that suggest that if the choice is to have the child is made then the male party is free from responsibility?"

djhopscotch,
Who cares. A woman is not going to have a baby to enforce some 'male responsibility' aspect. A man is not going to take responsibility simply because the baby is there. Plenty of dead beat dads to attest to that reality. I also think the womans choice to have a baby should concern herself, NOT the male. That would be irresponsible. If she chooses to abort then that doesnt concern the man, or any mention of responsibility. If she chooses to have it, even the most uninterested father has to pay child support.

Wow! That brought tears to my eyes.

Nothing convinces me more that safe, legal abortions are a necessity more than the stories of women who have had the procedure.
