Support and celebrate birth control tomorrow

BC

Just a little reminder that tomorrow not only marks the 43rd anniversary of the Supreme Court's ruling in Griswold v. Connecticut, but unfortunately will bring out a slew of anti-choicers to protest at Planned Parenthoods across the country for American Life League's totally misleading and horrendous campaign, The Pill Kills!

Many targeted clinics will be needing support tomorrow. If anyone else knows of on-goings in their areas, post in comments. Otherwise, check out your local Planned Parenthood and find out about what they're doing, and if there's anything you can do to help.

For more info on "Protest the Pill Day," check out Dr. Dana's Stone recent guest post.

Planning is Power! (with support from SYRF) is doing a silent demonstration at the Manhattan and Brooklyn locations (the Bronx is closed tomorrow) starting at 8AM until Noon. We are also having a meetup afterwards in Manhattan.

The organizers will all be in red t-shirts. They will have signs, buttons, and more information.

Look us up on Facebook for more information!

I escort at PP in Chicago. Escorting is stressful on a regular day. That shit is going to get bananas tomorrow. I have no idea if our PP is doing anything in response to this, but at the very least, if you live in Chicago and plan to be out and about tomorrow, just stop by and say hello to your friendly volunteer escorts. Sometimes that street support is all that gets us through the day.

Note: it is the 43rd anniversary of Griswold.

To Petronella:
I live in the Chicago area and am interested in getting involved tomorrow. Could you find out any information about some sort of response by PP?
Thanks

Feminist Gamers has declared tomorrow to be National Screw While On Contraception Day in protest of the American Life League's efforts.

I'm in San Francisco - if anyone else here knows about any goings-on at our local clinics (in SF or the East Bay), I'd love to take part. I may also go by the clinic near me and ask them about it, and will post details if I get them.

In CT: this is from an email I got from Planned Parenthood of CT

Please join us on Friday, June 6, from 4:30 – 6:00 PM, at our headquarters at 345 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT, as we celebrate PPC’s commitment to providing reproductive health care services – including birth control – to all in need. I hope you will join our staff, volunteers and other supporters, standing shoulder to shoulder with us during a visibility event promoting the basic right to birth control. For more information about this event, please call 203-865-5158 or email organizing@ppct.org
