I'm excited to announce this upcoming Washington DC event for three reasons. One, I helped to organize it. Two, it brings together two of my favorite topics, birth and abortion. Three, it happens to fall on my birthday!

Yay! A new pregnancy book that might actually address real-life issues and not strange unrealistic diets or a "1001 things That Can Go WRONG!!!" glossary of issues. What to Expect when You're Expecting recently got a reboot, which is good and all, but I'll be happy to check out the OBO take.
OT, but May 28th? Excellent day to be born! I turn 30 tomorrow. Many happy wishes Miriam!
I am so excited that this event is happening! I've just graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario and my primary area of research in Women's Studies is in fact, the ethics of Western Childbirth Practices, so this event is fabulous and this book is fabulous and I'll definitely be using it to continue my research and the discourse on home births and ethics.
I am sad though that I'm in Ontario so I cannot attend the event... sad indeed.
Please come to Canada! (Toronto would be good :))
finally. i remembering consulting my "new view of a woman's body" when i was pregnant and having some issues and they purposefully skipped pregnancy issues.
it's about damned time.
now they just need to revamp "a new view of a woman's body" to include full term pregnancy. i consulted it when i was pregnant and having some issues and they purposefully skipped pregnancy beyond unwanted ones.
I wish I could join you in DC!
I have one child, and am not planning on any more. I had him exactly when I wanted him - not too early (contrary to some critisism), not too late. I was and am able to achieve that because I have access to affordable birth control. Without it my plans to join the Air Force may have been thwarted (pregnant woman are not allowed in boot camp), and my ability to now support my family on one part-time job would be thwarted by having more.
Affordable birth control means everything to me - without it, I would not have accomplished what I have, and I would have no future.
