When I wake up with this song inexplicably stuck in my head, he doesn't know what I'm talking (or singing) about. For shame.

Ah, yes, kind of like the summer I woke up every morning with "Baby Got Back" stuck in my head.
Maybe, just maybe it's less about his age and more about the song being Zod awful. Try playing him a good song from 1982. I bet he knows it.

Aaah, I remember it. You are not alone.
However, if it's any comfort, I bet you are too young to know who "Hurricane Smith" is, or what the hell I'm singing about in the shower when I'm crooning, "Oh, baaaabe! What would you say???"
Unless it was covered by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, I would have no clue ;)
I may not have remembered it from my early life but for the new wave station on Sirius radio playing it pretty regularly.
*I* don't think it's a sucky song. There are many songs from the 80's which are much worse.
