Hello folks! It's almost spring and we're throwing a party in honor of that film we keep telling you about. I'd really like to see this movie, but I'm nowhere near New York. Does anyone know if they have plans to tour the US/upload the video/provide a way to order a DVD?
Thanks!
firefoxx66: You're not in the Twin Cities, are you? If so, you'll have the opportunity to meet Amy Jo and attend a screening/fundraiser here on April 12th at 3100 Park Avenue South (Metropolitan Community Church), 7-9 pm, or the following evening at Miriam's favorite Twin Cities feminist sex shop, Smitten Kitten.
That's so awesome! Two of my favorite things together :)
I missed the first posting about this movie and just checked out their website. I am SO glad they've made this movie. I was (I would pretty much bet my cat's life on it) a victim of an unauthorized pelvic exam by a medical student. I went in for surgery on my cervix and my doctor introduced me to a med student while on the table waiting for the surgery to start. I shook his hand, nice to meet you, etc. After the surgery, I wondered why the med student was even there. He could've been there to observe, but, and I worked at a med school at the time, I slapped my head and said to myself - Geez! I'll bet he "practiced" on me. And my doctor at the time was the type who would see nothing wrong with it. I wish they just asked me, odds are I would've said yes. But now, I just feel violated. I wish I thought to bring it up when it happened, but it's hard to think after being given drugs. Pisses me off!
Stacey: No, unfortunately I'm down in Texas.. and no one ever seems to want to venture down here : (
We hope some of you NY feminists will make it out tonight! We'd love to share what we're doing with you. Our film is not done yet, so it's not yet available...we are having needed fundraisers so that we can finish. If you can help, please write to us!
FEFU, I'd love to talk with you more about your experience. Could we post something about it on our website? If you are in or near NY we'd love to interview you! Write me directly at aj@atyourcervixmovie.com.
