Happy International Women's Day!

Happy International Women's Day, y'all!

If you're looking for information on the history of IWD, click here, or you can watch this video I made last year commemorating the day.

For more recent videos, click here. To find out about events happening worldwide, click here.

You can also see what's happening on women's issues in blogs across the globe by checking out Global Voices Online's Gender section.

And since I plug it in the video, if you want to check out Beijing Betrayed, a global monitoring report on women's progress since the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action, you can download it (in multiple languages) here.

If you have any events, posts, or websites related to IWD, leave them in comments. Hope everyone is having a super fun feminist day!

I will have a super fun feminist day! I wish I could do more, but the weather in Rochester is heinous.

for those in the Rochester area, though, check out http://www.womenscoffeeconnection.com/ Women's Coffee Connection is on 681 South Ave and is open today until 10pm!

Oh, oh! If you're in Rochester, The Vagina Monologue is also tonight! I'm supposed to be there as a volunteer, but as Cadmium.Elise said, the weather is shit and I live 45 minutes away. But it's being sponsored by Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse region and the money is going to fund our Rape Crisis Services. Tickets are still available at the door. I saw part of the cast put on A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer last week, and they were amazing. If you can, go!

I came across a rather sad blog, supposedly written by a 16 year-old African-American girl living in Chicago (I say supposedly only because sometimes people turn out to not be what they say they are).

Anyway, I find it sad because she's completely buying into the BS of anti-feminism.

She links to a press release from Phyllis Schlafly's organization about IWD (scroll down).

Happy IWD to all of the amazing women of feministing! My awesome feminist partner and I were GOING to go to the big march in downtown Toronto, but unfortunately, the weather is so bad here as well that we had to stay in. Harumph.

Great post on IWD, I like the new vlogging!

I took your advice and made sure to post on my blog, in a context of women in religion, about the day.
