Practical joke show "rapes" mom to terrorize daughter
Warning: Potentially triggering
When I saw this on The Soup, I was just speechless. This "joke" is abuse, plain and simple. And her mother was in on it?! I'm just...done.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Is there anything else TO say to that?
Holy fuck.
Fuck. Everyone involved should be up on criminal charges.
And that poor girl should have a tort case for false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional abuse, at the least.
now I just want a hot shower and a long, angry cry.
I am beyond disgusted. They had a gag like this on Robocop where a pretend police officer tells a lady her husband is dead as a prank, who'd of thought someone would actually do this?
Holy shit. The one good thing I can say is that, as usual, Joel had the correct reaction to such madness.
Hole. Ee. Shit.
That girl should be able to sue the show, the guy who held her down and screamed at her, the guy who dragged her mom into the kitchen, and her mom. Talk about emotional distress!
I'm breathless.
That's just fucking sick.
I can't even comprehend
the thought process if any
behind that. I agree with
Hannah, Lawsuits should be
filled.
Disgusting.
What really stuns me is that the mother-- and the daughter if she's over 18-- gave permission to have this broadcast on TV.
I too saw this on The Soup this weekend and could not believe my eyes.
I also just want to send a big FUCK YOU to the people in charge of the show that originally aired this.
Oh good. I think rape hasn't been funny enough in the past. This sort of humor is just what we need.
Horrible. I can't even believe this.
I just can't imagine what they were thinking. Unbelievable.
I can't watch the clip (I'm guessing I'm probably better off not seeing it) but does The Soup host mention where it originally came from? Is this "prank" show something that airs on mainstream U.S. cable or something?
Nevermind, I've gone looking and it seems to be something called "Infarto" on Azteca America. What a sickening program.
I saw something similar on YouTube recently -- wonder if it was the same show? It was also in Spanish, but I don't know -- where they a woman gets into an elevator that is rigged to stop in the basement of a building. When it won't move, she gets off and starts to try to find someone to help, and comes across a guy hanging in a stairwell! It's all, "Big joke, ha ha" and she is totally freaked out and then immediately MORE freaked out and pissed as hell when they tell her it was a joke. It's a show, the make-up was very convincing. Most of the comments on the video were like, "This is not funny in the LEAST." And most couldn't believe it was actually broadcast.

I really just can't figure out how this is supposed to be *funny.* I know practical jokes can be mean, but generally *somebody* is supposed to get a laugh out of it, and whoever would laugh at that poor girl screaming and crying, obviously terrified, is sick.
So, no lie, I really *am* one of those "humorless feminists", but this is something TOTALLY out of any league I've ever seen.
Practical jokes tend to be stupid, as they're usually at the expense of someone, and I am not a fan of that. But usually SOMEONE thinks it's funny. Did anyone here think that was funny? What about it gave them the laughs? Perhaps possibly emotionally scarring a young girl for life?
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Not.
I feel like I'm going to throw up.
Reality TV's reign of terror continues...
Apparently there is no low the idiots in charge of these programs won't stoop to.
I saw this on the Soup as well and had NO idea what was going on (was playing on the computer) until Joel McHale explained it. I just sat there thinking why on earth would any mother think it was funny to have her daughter witness her "rape"? And notice they didn't show the reaction of the daughter afterwards (they might not have hand the time or money for the full clip) but how does something like that go?
this is the most disturbing thing i have ever watched...
i'm crying right now because it is so sick.
fucking wow.
just fucking wow.
"reality" entertainment has just hit a new low.
There was absolutely nothing funny about this whatsoever.
Can anyone give us the English translation?
"Infarto" means "heart attack"-- so I'm not sure that it is supposed to be funny.
As far as the dialog... there's just a lot of asking if she is scared and her answering in the affirmative.
Thanks, frijolera. I heard a lot of "Oh my god," too. Horrifying on so many levels.
wait-- the very last thing he says to her (after "Are you afraid? Are you VERY afraid) is "You're on Infarto."
i guess it's the show's way of saying "You've been Punk'd!"?
Could this "joke" possibly be "funnier" that cutting off a woman's clothes with a knife?
Fuckheads.
I didn't actually watch it, as the title alone was enough to make me stabby.
I think I need to go cry now.
God, people are bastards.
Sci-fi nerd alert:
This reminds me of an episode of The Twilight Zone (the early 00s revival/new episodes with Forest Whitaker as the host). There was a reality show called How Much Do You Love Your Kid, and they kidnap a woman's son and tell her she will win half a million bucks if she can find him in an hour. The host eggs her on and gives her clues, etc., but it's clear she's going insane from the stress and worry. The twist at the end is that her husband gave them permission to do this -- the kid wasn't in any real danger, and he was just trying to make a few bucks. The woman is so pissed off she shoots and kills him.
Which makes me think: how stupid would you have to be to agree to be on this show? I mean, if someone tried to attack me and my mom, they would stand to lose a few teeth, break a rib or two, lose their ability to father children, etc. And I don't know if I could ever look at my mother again if she did something like that to me.
Of course, the bigger point is that this shit is fucked up enough to have made it onto an episode of The Twilight Zone. That oughta tell you something.
Sounds a lot like the sci-fi network show "Scare Tactics" where they would get some guy's friends to fake some terrifying incident for them.
To their credit, Scare Tactics never faked a rape. About the worst one they did was have a guy show up to what he thought was a job interview and end up in the same room as a serial killer.
I started identifying things around the place...flower pot, chair, POWER DRILL, which I thought any sane person would be using on the faux-killer's head.
Absolutely sickening. Obviously these people never heard about how things like the Milgram experiment were deemed unethical due to the emotional damage affected on the participants.
