I've been trying to find in back posts where you mention Monty's specific breed. Mostly because my man really wants a dog but we need a dog that won't harass my 12 yr old cat to death.

Isn't Monty an Australian shepherd? I saw one at my neighborhood Trader Joe's a few days ago.

(Simplejewel, he's a mini aussie I believe, but with an older cat I don't think it's the size of the dog but the temperment that matters. A calm, patient, and submissive dog can do very well with any cat. A more... boisterous dog, ie a terrier or an another working-sort dog, might be harder on the cat until the dog is trained.)

Yes, he's a mini aussie. And he's actually quite sweet with Neidra. She only gets really pissed when he starts throwing toys at her, not understanding that puppy play and cat play are not the same thing.

Your cat looks like the long lost sister of my cat. However, she hardly likes to cuddle with her people, let alone other pets.
