Your Friday Cute (Because polar bear cubs make the hurt go away)
This week was no joke. Between misogyny in the media, "gray" rape and and election madness, I think we all could use some cuteness to take the edge off.
Have a great weekend, folks.
UPDATE: Here's another video since the first was taken down. But be warned, maybe don't listen to the newscast. Sad news about the other cub...

AAAAWWWHAWHAWHAWHAAAAWWWWWWWWW.
Aw. :)
eeez cute. *squaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwk*
I really needed this :) I've been having a bad morning since I woke up and read an editorial in my paper making the statement that just because Hilary Clinton has been in the white house eight years doesn't mean she has experience. Acoording to this person, so has the chef and at least he can cook.
It already says it has been removed :(
Go to CNN.com. It's on there also. It's the cutest thing...
I want to see :(
And not to be a downer, but global warming, hack, the arctic in danger, hack, polar bears are possibly headed for endangered species list. I think about this mostly because I really specifically like polar bears.
If anyone would still like cute, you can always go here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne3L99fjhyo
'Tis a munchkin kitten
I still wanted to see the polar bear though :P
they have some of the still pictures up at cuteoverload.com if it's off youtube.
Is this the surviving cub in the Nuremberg zoo? You can send in suggestions for a permanent name (right now they're calling her or him Flocke, German for Flake) here: http://www.nuernberg.de/internet/eisbaer/eisbaername.html
Speaking of baby polar bears...this is my favorite Knut video, discovered last May when I visiting a friend in Davis and her roommate "discovered" that there was a polar bear named "Kunt." She got the name wrong, but the video was still hilarious.
Uh, and here's the actual link.

BTW, speaking of hand-raised cubs, here are some videos and more info about Hadiah:

Also, for more cute, here is an amazingly awesome baby goat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfUqVa-Y3go&eurl=http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/
Yet another sweet little psychic polar bear baby... just in time to take Knuts place - he is not at all cute and cuddly anymore.
Sorry to be a moment killer, but actually I am so overfed with any motherless animal child. Our country was crazed, almost obsessed with Knut.
And over his cuddlyness they simply forgot that hand-raising has the same effect on animals as it would have to a child being raised by wolves.
Damn, there is an polar region to be saved! But as long as we have hand-raised lunatic animals locked away in cages, nobody needs wildlife habitat anyway...
--Taisa-Marie: But still i fell for the kittens in the viedeo you've linked :)
I guess I was so excited for some cute that I didn't scroll all of the way down, and did watch it with the sound on. Which made me think of how certain monkey species attack other(rival, and most of the time, weaker) monkeys. also sometime cannibalizing them...
yeah...should we really call it evolution?given the past week, there was quite a bit of proverbial poo throwing.
i will put in a, "damn that thing is really cute" for good measure.
"...but actually I am so overfed with any motherless animal child..."
This young animal's sort of the opposite:
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/baltimore_city/bal-md.dolphins22nov22,0,5592798.story?coll=bal_news_local_baltimore_city_util
"...After the birth, the calf and Jade were placed in a pool with three females: Shiloh, a dominant female; Shiloh's daughter Chesapeake, also an experienced mom; and 5-year-old Mango, who has never been pregnant. They were separated from the aquarium's male dolphins and several other females...
"...Almost immediately after the latest calf's birth, his inexperienced mom ceded her nursing duties to Shiloh, the dominant female of the group and an experienced mother. She quickly began what biologists call 'relactation,' which is milk production by a female who had previously been pregnant, but has now been dry for an extended period.
"Soon, Shiloh's daughter Chesapeake, also an experienced mother, began producing milk and sharing some nursing duties. And Mango began 'spontaneous lactation' despite never having been pregnant.
"Jade's efforts at nursing, meanwhile, became half-hearted. Observers noticed that her mammary glands began to shrink, and signs of milk disappeared. She remained curious and interested in her baby, however, and in recent weeks has begun to play with him.
"Shiloh does most of the nursing, and controls when the others can participate. But for a while there, Hunter said, 'we had four milking mothers in here for him to choose from. It was pretty cool.'..."
The article refers to Shiloh, Chesapeake, and Mango as "foster mothers" but it seems more like Jade had 3 wet nurses.
Damn it. That goddamn thing is so cute, it also hurts ...I just want to squeeze and bite it - gently, of course.
Somehow, a little bear sleeping like that after eating too much is much cuter than a human doing so ...and I do that a lot. :)
