Not-Monday Monty Blogging (humiliation edition)

Mom...sweater off!
I'm so crazed in preparing for the holidays that I completely neglected my Monday Monty Blogging. My bad. Monty's Daddy has been very anti-clothing for the dog, but because it's been so frigging cold in NY recently...I won. Witness poor Monty's humiliation above and here. (I also kind of think that he looks like he's going through a werewolf transformation of some sort.)

This picture is to die for. I love when it's possible to capture a dog doing very human-like things - like yelling.
Haha. Loves it.
Poor Monty. I've never understood doggie sweaters, at least not on dogs that have plenty of their own fur. On little nearly hairless things, maybe (but I have a whole other set of issues with those dogs, starting with the fact that my cat is bigger than them).
Anyway, Monty's adorable, even as a quasi-werewolf. :)
Yeah, to tell the truth he looked so miserable in it I don't think I'll ever be able to put it on him again. But I had to get a pic of him in it. ;)
Ahh! Looks like Teen Wolf!
I have been wanting to buy Hoagie a dog sweater for a while now. I just can't imagine that his little layer of fur is enough to keep him warm in 20 degree weather. But I haven't caved yet 'cause I know he'd hate the sweater more than being cold anyway.
Did Monty try to convince you that he just can't possibly walk in that thing? lol. I think the trick to it is to get them started really young, so that they don't know any better... and make sure they know how to take it off... even when you're watching them those sweaters get kind of dangerous. Strange but true.
Funny enough, I think my dog has a sweater like that, it says "Dog Park Security" on it though. lol.
Next project: getting doggie "mittens" on Monty?
That might be cruelty, actually...though I remember a couple of years back there were urgings to put boots/mittens or some such on dogs due to power issues in NY.
I think dogs may be warmer w/o doggie sweaters when they have lots of fur. It seems his fur would be fluffy enough to hold heat in. Although if he's inside most of the time he probably didn't grow a thick enough coat for winter.
That aside, I bet if you just wave the sweater in front of him and he'll go running to hide from now on!
My dog won't wear clothing, if we put him in a cute little doggie sweater he holds completely and utterly still and refuses to go for walkies until the sweater is removed.
Monty prefers to be naked! Yay for nakeness! He looks frustrated and disappointed in Jessica in that picture. Geez!
I click on the Monty pictures to see the dog cuteness. I end up gnashing my teeth. Referring to your partner as Monty's Daddy is so annoyingly saccharine, unless you are referring to an actual dog. I find anthropomorphizing animals builds the expectation that they will behave like humans too, which ultimately leads to disappointment.
I love the pic! What a pup! And as an aside, I too refer to myself and my partner as our pups "mom and dad". However, I still know that she is a dog and I certainly don't expect her to behave any other way. After all, why should I expect my animal to behave any better than some of the awful children I see running around!
Yeesh, everyone's a critic. The pix of Monty, as always, are delightful!

Frankly, when you take care of an animal for so many years, they become like a child in some ways. My cat has been with me for 17 years, I consider myself "her mommy" in some ways because she's been with me almost as long as parents raise a human daughter!
God, RonO.... lighten up.
RonO, when you feed, nurture, and love another being from the time it is small and for many years afterward, you have the right to call it your baby. Don't ever tell my cat that I'm not her mother. After all, she doesn't know she's adopted.
Haha. He's making the "B'Gak" face. That's what I call both my dogs' and cats' yucky faces. I love it. Monty is growing to be a fine young man!
My cat has a necktie with a white collar I found at Target. I can't get enough "Tough day at the office?" jokes when she wears it. The other cat would maul my face if I even THOUGHT about it.
I am closet fan of animals in people clothes. That's something that I don't share often because people generally immediately are like, "Ew."
I love Monty pics, but I am as humiliated by this pic as Monty clearly is. The poor pup...
He looks like a 13 year old whose mother has just forced him into a winter coat and mittens and then insisted on taking his picture.
He's probably going to go sulk in his room for a week now...or until he gets hungry.
Is that from American Apparel?? I have one in black with aqua piping for my baby girl. I have gotten shit for it but i think whether or not she likes it depends on the attention and affection she gets while wearing it. It has nothing to do with the sweater itself. Also, Monty looks super cute and not at all sad :)
RonO...seriously?
I adopted my dog for love, companionship, and affection. She gives me all of that and in turn I spoil her rotten and give her the best life possible. And yes, I refer to myself as her "Mommy." I don't expect her to "behave like humans do." Duh, she's a dog, she's not a person. Her breed may be smart as hell, and sometimes she may seem a little bit person-like, but I am not so stupid that I think calling myself "Mommy" will suddenly turn her into a little person. Actually I find your insinuation to that effect extremely insulting. Displaying love and affection towards an animal does not equal a displaced reality in which an owner suddenly expects their pet to become human. I am far from disappointed in the behavior of my dog. It's been a year now and she hasn't let me down.
I think the people who treat animals like commodities and breed them constantly or leave them in the backyard all the time unsupervised are the ones with the problem. I'd rather be saccharine than cruel.
My dog is smaller than my brother's cat. I guess there are people who "take issue" with her. I'm used to that. I've gotten the "that's not a real dog" thing before, it's boring. One guy once acted surprised that she was walking on a leash and said "usually little dogs like that are being carried."
Anyhoo, I love the Monty pictures! I put a coat on my girl when we go out (she's got short hair and only weighs 12 pounds) and she doesn't like it. She's gotten past trying to fight out of it, but now she doesn't move a whole lot in it and she shakes a lot. I keep trying to remind her that it'd be a lot worse without it when it's 30 degrees out, but she doesn't beleive me.
Also, when I first saw this picture, I thought he was pooping.
*believe
I hate misspelling things.
Theres a dog near the place I work that has a winter coat! Its one of the very skinny short haired dogs and the coat is like twice its size. Every time I see it, I grin like a fool
Sorry for being rude. I don't have to annoy you folks with the fact that it annoys me.
