You guys are amazing
Huge thanks to everyone who blew Jessica's goal for today away by making donations to support our site upgrades. We're over $1400, and it's so great to see that you are as excited about the changes to Feministing as we are.
Special thanks to the person who made the largest donation so far, $250. And keep talking about what you want to see in January. I'm particularly interested to hear ideas of what you guys would talk about on your Feministing blog.
And, because I know a lot of fund raisers, let me just add... keep it coming!

$250?! Woohoo!
I'd like to invite Feministing readers to make donations to the SarahMC fund...
I am a long time reader and supporter of your blog. I don't have any money to donate (sadly, I'm a poor grad student) but I am a professional online community manager, and I will volunteer my time to help you set up your new community interface. I work for two well known magazines/websites and have done work with other companies & podcasts. If you are interested, let me know and I'll email you.
Hi, I actually signed up to comment because I've been reading your blog for a long time. I think its awesome, always wanted to say!
I'm afraid I'm totally short on money to donate (Im just a poor student) which is kind of useless but just had to comment on how much of a great idea I think this is. I really wish I could contribute.
As a 17 year old feminist I often feel slightly alienated and irritated by the lack of feminist activism going on with people my age and just thought that any idea that unites people together as a community is super.
I just sent Jessica $20. Go, Feministing! :)

I already have a personal blog, but I'd love to transfer my entries on feminism over to a Feministing-linked blog. I tend to write about issues related to being a Desi ex-Muslim girl, but I do write about pretty much anything on which I want to call bullshit.
I hope that it means $40, Erie.
Remember when you donate: if you have the smallest doubt that it worked, just do it again. And again for a good measure.
(I send something too.)
I just made my donation. I really wish I could have sent more. Jessica's book and subsequently this website are what really got me into feminism. I feel like I have a community, somewhere to fit in now. Thank you guys so much.
And I'll stop being so mushy now. I swear, it's just the wine!
Hey, we 17 yr old feminists are a lot more common than you think! I adore feministing and check it religiously, but I wish I could help out more. I know how you feel about the alienation bit, but the community here is fabulous. Thanks so much to all involved.
Aw, thanks you guys!
Unfortunately I'm also a student, but I can pass along a few dollars. Hope it helps!
For centuries now the Italian Mafia has distorted and impoverished the South Italian economy, extorting shopkeepers and taking a cut on any economic activity.
Even today it seems it takes a cut on any big construction project. This is why Rico Cassone, the mayor of Villa San Giovanni who opposed building the Messina Bridge to connect Sicily to the mainland, resigned – he received the classic Italian Mafia threat of five bullets through the post. Organized crime is expected to profit hugely from the bridge’s construction. But their tentacles go much further. Building cities is a construction game, so Mafia involvement in Southern Italian city-making will continue ad nauseam.
