Monday Monty (Video)Blogging (silent movie edition)
For some reason my damn audio doesn't translate when I upload videos to YouTube, but I thought sleepy Monty was damn cute--even without sound. Don't laugh, I'm desperately trying to catch him in a yawn. I swear I'm not nuts, it's literally the most heart-melting thing of all time. One day, Monty, one day.

Bwa ha ha! Clearly he knows what you're up to. Too cute!
Aww, Monty Monday! I love Monty Mondays.
I found out last week that my (relatively new) kitty cat is (probably) a very sick kitty. Awaiting blood test results today. Sigh.
And MANY THANKS to whomever suggested Pill Pockets for giving pills to pets. My cat and I thank you for sparing us more trauma.
Oh man...you really should have a daily Monty post. Heck, why not hourly?
Love the lip-smacking...always the precursor to a good nap.
He is just adorable!
DrkEyedCajn: thanks for (re)mentioning the Pill Pockets. They look like they could come in handy one day. And I hope your kitty is ok.
drkeyedcajn, do you suspect FIV? because it's actually pretty easy to deal with, i understand. You just can't have other cats, and the kitty might not live as long as it would otherwise, but it would still have a good life.
Jessica: Have you tried yawning in front of monty to encourage him to yawn? It might be worth a shot, I want to see it!
My dog yawns when I rub his chest almost 100% of the time. Maybe you could try that.
MLEmac, I'm not sure about FIV. I'll have to do some more research. She was having these growling-hissing fits that ended up being behavioral seizures. It turns out that there's all kinds of different things that can cause seizures in cats. I'll have to see if FIV is one of them.
Oh, and thanks, ShelbyWoo! The Pill Pockets are a bit expensive, but worth it. My picky kitty likes the salmon-flavored ones.
(I've read that Pounce treats are soft enough to roll pills up in as well, and a fraction of the price. Will give it a try and report back.)
My mum had the pill routine down with our first cat: load pill into a pessary syringe (like the ones for inserting pessaries for thrush treatment, you can get them from the vet), wrap the cat in a towel & insert pill into the back of the mouth, then stroke the throat to cause swallowing. Follow with sardines as a bribe! Dogs are a little easier - teeth & claws aren't as sharp.
Jessica, don't worry about soundless videos - my sound drivers won't install, so I'm fine with silent ones!
This reminds me of a joke I got by e-mail once.

seizures are not fun. My dog as a kid had seizures. We never did figure out what caused them. He started having them at 12 and still lived to be 14, but his quality of life wasn't that great. He had a lot of trouble walking and seemed to just lie around all of the time. Most of that probably just had to do with the fact that he was old and the seizures were just another symptom.
I hope your kitty is okay! Maybe Epilepsy can occur in cats, and can be controlled with daily pills.
BTW, I just found out about the Daily Coyote and it reminded me of Minday Monty Blogging:
