Mentos: The rapemaker?
You know, you have to be some kind of real asshole to go out of your way to make a spoof commercial about how hilarious rape is.

If you have a youtube account you can rate the video (the lower the rating the less views it will get) and you can flag it as inappropriate.
flagged.
I flagged it too.
My doctor said I need to work on lowering my blood pressure.
. . . can't . . . look . . .
dont . . . press . . . play
Flagged.
Can't Mentos sue these people for copyright infringement, false advertising, and/or defamation of character? I'm not a lawyer, but there has to be some legal punishment for this.
FEmily!-
Well, there are many Mentos commercial parody videos online. It's kind of a meme. This one just happens to be in much poorer taste than most.
Also, since presumably nobody is using this video to make a profit, I don't think anyone could sue for copyright infringement.
Uh, the dude was eating Mentos too. Shouldn't he be passed out?
I'm pretty sure the guy used a standard roofie. The Mentos just gave him the nerve to drug her drink.
Flagged x2.
DBR, in flagging this video, I'm surprised that there's no specific flag for sexual or gender-based violence.
Looking through the comments to this is truly terrifying. My "favourite":
"well of girls were not STUCK UP BITCHES and rejecting every guy then they WOULDNT get raped. SO GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE FUCKING RAPERS!!!"
..Yeah.
And johanna, you can flag it under "Hateful or Abusive Content," then select "promotes hatred or violence," and you get a drop-down menue which includes "sex" (in addition to "gender identity" and "gender orientation"!). So yes, youtube is that awesome that there is a specific flag for this. :)
Keep flagging!! Maybe we can get this taken down! :)
flagged it, and gave it a bad rating.
What an asshole......
They've taken it off.
Just went to youtube and it says "this video removed by user."
Good work!
Looks like the video got pulled.

Ooh, I didn't know that. I knew there was a reason I loved YouTube despite all the awful people who comment there.
Yas! Chibbed a dillion.
In non-Glasgow-speak, good work everyone!
I'm glad the video got taken down, but damn, I wanted a lawsuit!
Alright, this is nutty.
Right after I watched the video and commented, I e-mailed Mentos about it. I sent them a link to the video and told them how offensive I thought it was. That was around noon. An hour later, they e-mailed me back saying "We agree that it is
very offensive and we are going to work with our legal department to get
the video removed from You Tube as soon as possible." An hour and a half after that, their legal department e-mailed me saying "We will request that YouTube
remove that video immediately. I will also send you some MENTOS as a
'Thank You!'" FREE MENTOS!!! Yes! *dances*
I hit on the play button, and got a statement saying that this video is no longer available.
This goes along with an article I read today at viceland.com about a oragutan that was being held and raped by local villagers in Indonesia. The orangutan had been shaved, and villagers would pay to 'have sex' with the poor creature.
The article had a sidebar quote that said,"you could choose a human if you preferred, but it was a novelty for many of the men to have sex with an orangutan." Do you think feminist sites should cover sexual abuse horrors like this as well? It has to do with perverse animal abuse, but is strongly connected to sex slavery, and rape, and orangutans are 98% genetically connected to humans. Does anyone think feminist sites should cover monkey sexual abuse? Should we not see it as a legitimate feminist topic because they are animals? It poses a philisophical challenge to me, because where does human/animal end within the scope of monkeys and humans? The way that the orangutan was treated was to mimic human women, but was portrayed as a novelty to men because it was an animal. How would a feminist site cover such an issue?
I dont know where else to post this kind of a question, and I dont think it will ever come up on feministing. The question does concern rape however, and I feel it would belong under this post. I'm interested in any thoughts on the issue.
Could someone describe what happened in the video for those who didn't get to see it?
and yes, the youtube comments section is a cesspool--i don't know what attracts all the lowlifes there.
I'm glad that they took if off, but I'm also curious. Can someone who saw it provide a synopsis?
Synopsis:
Guy is in bar. Girls come into bar, sit.
Guy is attracted to girls (?) Pops a mentos for an "courage"
Puts a pill into girls drink
Girl passes out on guy, while in establishment.
Perceived manager of establishment gives guy a thumbs up
~Mentos! The Freshmaker!~

Why would they even make these aimless commercials if they know society is just going to pull it anyways? Why would they even feel they would want to air it? Stupid!
Gopher, this this is not a mentos commercial it is a horrible attempt to try and make a spoof of a mentos commercial...and I use spoof in the most loose definition possible.
Thanks for the clarification Roxie. I wasn't able to see the video as it wasnt available when I logged on. I was hoping it was a spoof, however, I know better than to believe commercials dont enforce sexist and horrific beliefs through commercial mediums. I figured this was just another sexist advertisement aired through an alternative medium (like the internet) to capture elusive asshole demographics. It wouldnt be the first time.
