This was fond at the entrance to a school: Open your eyes! No aggression without response. Let's fight against sexism!

Hotness.

Awesome! I love it, especially the face.

Any idea what flag is supposed to be creeping up the woman's mouth? Sadly a plain red star and stripes opens way too many doors for me to guess which country... any help?

The flag looks to me like a Catalan nationalist flag from Spain- but with white where the yellow should be. That's my best guess.
It's a great mural though.

That makes sense, this kind of graffiti is all over Barcelona.

One memorable mural outside of a squat had picture of a woman brandishing two large guns, with some sort of 'anti-violence' slogan above it. Both the irony and the artwork were great.

I have a sudden and uncontrollable urge to move to Spain.

Spain?? I mean dont mind the skepticism but isnt spanish the official language? I would love to find out what language this is....why? Im fascinated by it:D I'm so glad this is out in bold in peoples faces....I see things like this and want to do more.

Well in Barcelona they speak Catalan and sometimes Spanish as well.

But I don't know if that text is Catalan or what.

DrkEyedCajn: do it.

Absolutely, there is a ton of really great feminist/anti-fascist/anti-capitalist graffiti all over. And they speak Catalan in Barcelona, especially the squatter/punk/activist kids. Looks like Catalan to me, but it's been a while.

This is getting long for such a silly subject, but I just got home and looked at the photo, and the woman is weilding a sledghammer and the text (in Catalan) says 'AGAINST AGGRESSION - DIRECT ACTION'

Also, the squat I lived in is called 'Cunt house' and there are lots of spray-painted vaginas all over the outside.

It's definitely Catalan. I don't speak the language, but I can read it. I speak French and Spanish fluently. Spain's official language is castellano, which we today call Spanish. That was Franco's fault. In Galicia, Spain, they speak gallegos. And in Basque Country, it's Euskera.

When I was in Barcelona, I saw similar graffiti everywhere. There is a thriving anarchist community in Catalunya, and there has been for a very long time.

Hi!

I'm catalan and live in Barcelona so I can confirm this is catalan.

The 4 "bars" and the star are the symbol of pro-independence for Catalunya from spain. The catalan flag is yellow background and the 4 bars. With a star it's for independence.

We were independent until 1714 and always had our own culture and language. Franco and many others before tried to "kill" the culture and language but they failed. Nowadays both Spanish and Catalan are official languages in Catalunya.

The independence movement are usually very left-wing and pro-feminist. For example, when they make posters or graffiti they try to use gender-neutral language (in catalan, like in spanish, the word that defines a group of people is usually always used in the masculine form).

Sorry if this was too long, I learn so from much this site every day, maybe today I can help others learn new interesting facts!
