Best. Idea. Ever.
Birth control pill cases with a built-in alarm to remind you when it's time to take them. Amazing!
I think the American flag design is pretty hilarious:
Contraception is totally patriotic!
And if you remain unconvinced, the site has the stats to change your mind:
- 58% of women sometimes forget to take their pill
- 16% of women have at least one pill left over every month
- 1 million women in the U.S. become pregnant every year due to taking the pill incorrectly.
Via the gals at Nerve, who prefer the leopard print.

That's a great idea! I like the leopard one.
This is AMAZING!!!! I had to quit taking the pill because I never, EVER remembered to take it. I might have to go back on the pill now that I know this handy invention is available!!!
I bought one of these when I saw it advertised in Jane. (That's right, nay-sayers...) It's pretty frickin' awesome. Except now I'm on the ring, so it's outlived it's usefulness.
Smart! I have an alarm set on my cell phone. It feels very pavlovian (spelling?), but damn effective.
Man, I coulda used one of those back when I was on the pill. I'm so absentminded.
I set my cell phone alarm to go off the same time every day and that works for me.
My roommate last year had a cell-phone alarm...I hardly ever forget and my parents don't know I'm on the pill, so this probably wouldn't be a great idea for me since I still live at home a few months of the year.
Wow, that actually is a good idea . . . weird.
I think I read about this in Bust. I'm fond of the leopard print one as well.
I'm on Seasonique now, and the case is ginormous, so I doubt it would fit.
If you have a digital alarm clock they can usually be set to ring once every 24 hours. I keep a cheap travel alarm clock in my bathroom. I haven't forgotten a pill since I started doing this.
I'm also with the alarm-on-cell-phone brigade, but this is a good idea (I, however, am currently in love with my Lybrel dispenser. You squeeze it and the pill pops out! Not space age science, but a hell of a lot more complex and cool than the patch, which was my previous method)
Brilliant... but it still wouldn't remind me to putit in my purse, which is why I am glad to be on the ring.
This is one of those things that is so brilliant that I can't believe it wasn't on the market years ago. I hope it's popular enough to make the inventor wealthy.
So simple, and so much exactly what women need.
: ] !!!
i quit taking birth control because i couldnt remember it.
this is such a gooood idea !
Thank heavens for this post, for without it I would have forgotten my pill completely.
I love the American flag design on the birth control pills, because it is a reminder of those who support the Global Gag Rule, are against our servicewomen fighting abroad.
Feministing is not only read by US readers. As a citizen of the world this patriotic American flag design of a contraception pill package is not only ridiculous - it is a glorification of America's violence against Iraqi and Afghani women and children. Please do not forget that the American flag is burning all over the world and stands for brutal violation and imperialistic exploitation of nature, culture and women. We should move beyond ANY "patriotric" symbols - please open a dictionary and check where the word comes from and what it stands for. And then think if this subtle form of brainwash and propaganda is really what feminism needs. Or not...
So for me it would be the leopard print, please.

One could also argue that the leopard print and zebra print styles stand for killing endandered animals for fur, the lipstick print style stands for all the problems with the cosmetics industry, the red cartoony style stands for anorexia nervosa, the metallic styles stand for mining companies blowing up mountaintops in the Appalachians...
Meanwhile, speaking of flags, symbolism, and whether or not a flag can symbolize anything but the worst about its place, this link is interesting:

Brilliant... but it still wouldn't remind me to putit in my purse, which is why I am glad to be on the ring.
jenlovesponies, I love the ring for the same reason. I put the in/out/refill dates in my phone, so I don't have to rely on memory at ALL. It's great.
Unfortunately for me, I'm on two other medications which I have to take orally every day... hopefully we'll invent a similar delivery device for those as well someday.
Quick tip: I have to take 6 different pills daily, but I am a very forgetful person.
My solution has been to get one of those little plastic cases that have separate M/T/W/Th/F/Sa/Sn slots and put it right by my work and home computer. It's worked well for me.
I have my cell phone alarm set as well. Works out decently, since I have to give my cat her pill, too :)
I think this is a great idea but $20 is a little steep.
I'd be 100% for this if the birth control pack had a wireless link to her boyfriend's cell phone and e-mail, notifying HIM that she's "simply forgotten" to take her pill.
That and a soon-to-come reliable male birth-control pill will be the end of feminism.
You girls are a one-trick pony.
That pony is tired, and soon to be barren.
Come on... you are all still in favor of equality, right?
nothattheresanythingwrong "... blah blah blah ... barren pony blah blah ..."
FAIL
That was ... unkind.
And, kind of "vacuous."
Look it up derrp.
That was ... unkind.
It's ok to be unkind when people act like douchebags.
Now go back to wanking to Ayn Rand and wondering why the big mean feminists just don't get you.
Good idea I guess, but my cell phone alarm works just as well...
I'd have been more tempted if the designs were more discreet: plain black and I would have been sold.
I've always wondered: You know how when you're pregnant you can find out because of the hormones in your pee, is there something similar when you're on the pill? I would love for that to be true and for someone to invent a "so you were late taking that last pill, pee on this stick and see if you're still protected" kind of device. I know usually there's a 12 hour window, but I still get paranoid... which doesn't really help you get in the mood!
Wait a second, doesn't this: http://feministing.com/archives/005198.html do the same and more?
Although I can't seem to find anywhere to actually buy it.
vacuous
AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
We recently started caring them at work (Planned Parenthood). They are pretty bulky compared to the pill cases the pills come with, and the pills just kind of sit in there, they aren't held firm. Plus, there are no holes in the bag so you have to take the pills out, then push them through the plastic they come in, then put them back in. It's not a big deal, I just think it could have been designed a little better. That said, I keep staring at the hugs n kisses one. It appeals to me for some reason.
Every woman's birth control dilemma would be solved through these three measures:
1) Respect yourself.
2) Respect who you screw.
3) Respect that # 1 and #2 above can make you a mommy.
Girls?
You have all the control.
Use it, please.
Will somebody please ban this troll? He's not even entertaining.
